  1. A fair article: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-08-02/understanding-the-post-office-s-benefits-mess.html
  2. It's saying "8.8.8. 8.8" among other alphanumerics. I did all the above. I talked to service Monday and they're replacing it. Good company. Thanks for your responses.
  3. Yes I've done that. Removed the batteries, replaced with new (checked voltages to be sure.) Thanks.
  4. How is this keyboard working out? Does it work plugged in at power-on or do you have to plug it in after?
  5. I purchased my first Lectro HM Plug-on and the display is somehow locked into a hexadecimal mode (no words- just numbers/letters.) It wasn't this way last time I used it. This mode/problem isn't mentioned in the manual. Anyone know how to reset to defaults? Thanks
  6. I purchased my first Lectro HM and the display is locked into hexadecimal mode. It wasn't this way last time I used it. This mode/problem isn't mentioned in the manual. Anyone know how to reset? Larry? Thanks
  7. Today the USPS contracts out just about everything except the final mile. Local entities taking over that last leg is not a big leap. It'll die a natural death. Privatization is already happening in other countries and it'll probably happen here.
  8. The free market is an amazing thing. Those services won't go away. Delivery out in the sticks can be handled by local governments or private services. Obamacare will take care of medical delivery costs, right?
  9. Read it. Suggest you do same with the Daily Caller Link. My experience with the USPS is it's cheap... and unable to tell me when my package will arrive. As the article points out, it can't compete with private companies over the long haul. We love our mail carrier. Privatizing means she'll be doing her great job in the private sector. It also means the tenured SOB that delivered our mail at our previous address will have to find another line of work.
  10. Great production! Looks like Apple bashing to me.
  11. Always another angle... http://dailycaller.com/2011/07/28/why-the-usps-should-be-privatized/
  12. The 664 USB was not originally designed for a keyboard and hence the problems. If they can trap some of these errors it will open up more keyboards.
  13. Sorry, I wasn't clear. Technical problems. It works 100% of the time? Thanks.
  14. My keyboard doesn't work unless it's plugged in after power up. You're right- that doesn't sound healthy. No problems with the Trew keyboard?
  15. Looking for a SD664 compatible keyboard, one that works whether or not it's plugged in at power up. My first try, a wired Dynex from Best Buy has to be connected after power up and sometimes loses communication. Keyboard info on the SD forum is sparse. Thanks.
  16. Agree with you there. There are relatively low priced cards on the approved 664 media list but long discussions about alternatives. I hope SD puts more into their testing than the person on the forum who's "...had no problems so far." Why the discussion? I do think though, SD should test and approve a 64gb card that's in production ASAP.
  17. Good thought but will someone trying to sell their equipment be pointing out it's weaknesses?
  18. Thanks. Good to hear thumbs up to pieces I'm considering. Weird there are no haters of a particular device. These manufacturers must be working their asses off to please.
  19. Thanks, Larry. BTW, all my Lectros were AOA.
  20. You're right. But it is what it is. Tucson is a very small market. Not really a full job here unless that person wants to work mostly away and not many of those guys live here. One advantage is most of my audio ends up in my control room so I decide if there's a problem or fix it in post.
  21. Good comments. I'm trying to buy right- that's why I'm here. I've perused this forum and others and downloaded manuals and watched videos. Lots of happy people but I guess I'm trying to find a little dirt. Any DOA stories? I was told by one user (I won't prompt with the manufacturer) he ordered a number of xmtr/rcvrs and much of it came DOA. He sent em back and more came not working. Third time was the charm. Happens with all manufacturers I'm sure but some more than others. I've had good experiences with Sound Devices and Lectro but know nothing about Zaxcom. If no make stands out for reliability (or lack thereof) I'll go ahead and make my purchases based on my workflow. Thanks again. (popcorn free around here?)
  22. I did some location audio many years ago but have spent most of my career in post. Some of my clients, unhappy with their location audio talked me into getting back in. I'm having fun. I have a bag with an SD302, Lectro UM400 & LMA feeding a Lectro SRa, Comtek 216s. I'm building a bag cart and anticipate 95% of my time will be sitting at the cart. Most of my output goes to a DSLR. I thought I'd upgrade a little and am looking at a 664 vs Nomad 10. If I purchase the Nomad it will be because of size (for the bag) and the network. It looks like a compact, efficient system. Zaxnet is attractive but I don't to want buy new reliability problems. So, I would appreciate any comments on general reliability of the Sound Devices vs. Zaxcom mixer/recorders and Zaxcom vs. Lectrosonics wireless systems. Interested in quick comments as to failure rates and performance on the job. Thanks!
  23. I ordered from Sweetwater 38 days ago and counting (and waiting.)
  24. Hello everyone (first post.) Why were our "geniuses" in Congress wasting time with this, considering the problems this country was going through at the time this mess was legislated. The "Fiscal Cliff (gag)" didn't just appear in the last few weeks. If there was a real problem there would be a market for end user devices to deal with it. I suspect twelve months from now the commercials will still be the loudest part of programming. I know my mix levels won't be changing.
