  1. Good point, thanks! Appreciate you guys chiming in.
  2. Hi folks. Would love anyone's 2 cents concerning how long do you reckon the Omni will be supported and what may come along to replace it? I'm really contemplating going HD Native and it would suit my I/O needs fine, but it's been out there for a good while. Thanks!
  3. TITLE: Cut to the Chase PRODUCTION COMPANY: Secret Identity Films RATE: Low Budget ($100.00 per day for a 12 hour day) TRAVEL DETAILS: Applicant must be local to the city listed on the job NON-UNION JOB Low budget production looking for a sound mixer/boom operator one man band. $100/day plus modest $500 box rental for 18 days of production. Travel (driving, not flying) stipend depending on your location, per diem, and lodging at a downtown apartment with other crew. 18 days between March 31-April 21 including one week where we work every single day. Ideal kit would include: - 4+ channel mixer (Sound Devices 744T or equivalent) - Sennheiser MKH50 shotgun or equivalent - 2x Lectrosonics lav Kit with Sanken lav mic or equivalent - Boom pole/blimp/etc - Necessary cables, etc Optional (will pay more box for): - Digital Slate - Timecode Jam Box (Red DSMC) - Comtek Lots of fun, solid, sometimes ridiculous days. Modest, but not completely abysmal pay. Producers aren't assholes. We're just like you. Professional crew types making their own film. At wrap time, we are known to buy drinks, cut loose, and dance on bartops. Let's make movies together.
  4. +1 Paul. I bought both the 664 and 633 within milliseconds of their press releases and I'm just not feeling the buck fever this time. The 633 is still my go to for 90% of my work. The new bells and whistles are nice but not needed enough to take the hit right now.
  5. The chart here does not imply 664/SL6 compatibility: http://sounddevices.com/products/mixers-with-integrated-recorders/688/feature-comparison
  6. I had a chat with Ron about the bleed right when they started shipping. He said it was a price point/spec issue. In practice I have not been adversely affected by it as I'm never in a scenario that has all faders completely down.
  7. 416 Candles Sennheister 416 Magic Mic
  8. Every blue moon I hear from someone. No way I'd do a premium thing.
  9. I've put some Joe's Sticky on them when I feel they might be at risk.
  10. Shill alert! Just a quick note to say that I'm enjoying my LMC NP1 ac adapter. I tend to use it with my 633 bag when I'm doing locked off stuff in situations that aren't cart-friendly.
  11. 416 is a tank, resistant to the elements and RF. I'd start with it then plunk on the 50. I own 2 and from my cold dead hands will they be removed. My CMIT is my usual go to for narrative/commercial stuff, however, but if I were stripped down to only having one, the 416 is the winner.
  12. First time with one today. They did not have the i/o expansion (they were not terribly familiar with their own cam). Had to change headphone to stereo in sw menu. Had no issues getting audio in and calibrated.
  13. I currently power my Foldup Cart using a Remote Audio Hot Box and their PSHOT power supply. It's beefy enough to handle a fully loaded Octopack, a Marshal Lynx dual monitor, the Solice Mini, and my 664. I also have an SLA batt that can run it all while waiting for house power.
  14. Thankful for Jeff and all of you (yes, even the drunken, overtly political aunts and uncles) who make this site feel like home.
  15. Hi Ken. While I can yank the 664/Octopack off the cart if need be, I'd most likely use my 633 in a separate bag if I had to go mobile. Yup, feeding cams from 664, as it has so many options for that.
  16. Thanks for compiling! One thing I saw was about the Panasonic AF100. It doesn't have BNC for TC, you have to use the RCA video out port to jam it, via the menus.
  17. I've had mine since August. I feed it from an Octopack, then run the main outs to Ch11-12 to record L/R mix. Direct outs feed ISOs on 664, Ch1-8. I power it, the 664, the Octopack and my Blackmagic Lynx monitors off a Hot Box, fed by the Remote Audio PSHOT adapter. I use it on a Rastorder Foldup with an SKB-VS1 sliding drawer. The good: it's small, lightweight, sounds clean, gets the job done for the price point. Less good: Headphone amp seems a bit anemic. Find myself monitoring from 664 when I need the gas. Headphone selector switch feels flimsy. Still happy overall and it fills a gap I've had since I sold my 788t/CL-9 combo last year.
  18. From my cold, dead, hands will I part with mine. They just work.
  19. Not a fan of the audio setup either, but had zero TC issues using the TIG Q28 over the last two days.
  20. Working on my birthday last Monday at Svaneholms Slott outside of Lund, Sweden.
  21. CS1e with a Softie is a good sounding, unobtrusive choice.
