The cosi is very transparent. Leo as well. But both are a little overkill for indoors unless you were in a doc style situation with no time to switch out indoor/outdoor mounting. All the Cinela solutions are fine for indoor use (compared to rycote softies/zep in my opinion). Mini cmit in a cosi would be an amazing indoor/outdoor doc setup. Have you used the hollow foam for the schoeps? Bd5. That solved all indoor wind issues for me, including fast swings on the boom. Cost is about $50.

The cosi is a great solution outdoors for you because it would fit both the mini cmit and the cmc641 with no adjustments. I don't think you will ever want more wind protection. But it is expensive. Indoors you will need two different suspensions for the microphones because the space for a suspension to grip is much different for each mic. Rycote invision6 is the only suspension I am aware of that works well for the minicmit. You can put on soft black lyres or the stiffer grey ones if you want to put a softie for use outdoors. Using a softie instead of buying a cinela is cheaper, would allow you to have 1 mount for both indoor and outdoor. But cinela cosi is better in every other way (handling noise, wind protection, transparent sound) For the CMC you have a lot more options, and have been discussed here. Cinela osix is the most expensive. I find the PSC mount with rubber suspension works well for me and I don't use a cut60. On the rare occasion I use it outside with a softie I can add an extra rubber band for stiffer suspension.

Touch of Evil The final sequence where Charleston Heston puts an rudimentary radio mic on an informant to catch Orson welles' character confessing. Brilliant use of sound, and the poor performance of the wireless places a critical role. Not quite what you're after, but worth mentioning. I find all the old Orson welles movies pretty interesting from a sound perspective.

I've got an PSC RF multi built with cables and a couple SNA600s in a small case at the bottom of my backpack/case in case I need extra range. Takes a minute or so to do the switchover though. So some advance planning is required. The sna600s performed better than whips. The floppy lectro dipoles cut to one block did not, in my experience. In bag situation I've installed soft side velcro on top of orca bag to mount antennas. Or a selfie stick to remote them (about 3-4ft).

I've finally figured out a workaround with media access on the Orca, Unplug everything on the output side, then lift the whole unit from the right side out of the bag, then it's easy access haha. still a pain in the ass and not a real solution.

saw the video, but it wasn't really clear what's possible for configurations in the bag. could one fit 3SRB/slot receivers in the main section with a 633? Or is the outside "underpants" section meant for the receivers? also whats' the price? couldn't find one.

Good to know. I was only switching from 23.97 to 29.97 and I remember it detecting and jamming to whatever I set the master clock to. I'll have to play with it again when I get home.

I've been using the Fuze Ti slate for a month. Bought one of the prototypes. Love everything about it. Easy to use, auto reads frame rate and jams to incoming timecode. Water resistant, small size etc. The ACs I've been working with like it as well.

Also would love to see photos of how folks are mounting SNA600 to harness.

Anyone had any luck jamming direct from a recorder in slave mode (and auto adjusting frame rate to master clock on recorder)? Mine don't, but works great in 25fps for now :(

Have had no issues so far with water on WM or MM, as long as everything is sealed and O rings are well maintained. WMs are very large and heavy compared to MM. However, with 2 batteries, the WM could run all day on lithiums without doing a battery change and has all the remote functions of an SM series transmitter. I still prefer the size and simplicity of the MM.

US only has two piece as far as I know. But was in Toronto visiting family and Canadian Tire was selling them (3 piece) , bought one and checked it as luggage.

AT4053 is a good choice. It's a great sounding mic and got me through the first few years until I could afford to buy a couple schoeps. You can buy them new for 600, used for 400ish. Keep it as a crash mic/backup or sell it if you upgrade down the line. If you buy used you'll probably make most of your money back. The MKH50 and Schoeps are the most popular options these days, but MKH50 is still in the $1000+ category. If you can find it, the MKH40 is not as popular and sells for a lot less on the used market. 40 is wider pattern than the 50, closer to the pickup pattern of the schoeps.

I get my thick moleskin from CVS. In NYC I have a hard time finding it, walgreens and Duane reade do not stock it.

My setup for the longest time was using just b3 and b6 lavs. To my ear they sound identical but you can get better placement on a b6. Now I use DPAs for everything, unless I need the B6 for difficult wardrobe or in plain sight mount. B3 still comes out for reality work and situations I know the mic will be abused/come into contact with water.
