  1. I am referring to the power output of the Micplexor and the power requirements of the nomad. The nomad is rated at a half amp, which is the maximum output of the micplexor.
  2. rado, Extremely impressed with the work on your bag. Very simple. Envious! I am curious - in regards to the DC power. I know you say it is fine - but the Nomad is rated at 1/2 Max Power, with that being where these outputs tap out. How hard have you taxed your machine? Zaxnet at full RF output, Outputting line level from outputs (XLRS), recording multitracks (12) with a lot of settings dialed inside the setup menus? I would LOVE to do this, but it scares me that the DC out doesn't have just a little bit more power to be on the safe side... Thoughts?
  3. Try putting some moleskin on the inside of the shirt so the soft side of the shirt to push the hair away from the shirt. you might even try using an over cover to push it further. Another option is to put stick joes in-between the moleskin and the shirt. Hope those help! ~Thomas Popp

  9. Hi everyone. Curious if anyone has tried hooking up QRX100's to the Digital inputs of a Yamaha 01v96i via the Digital Card slots (MY16AE card - 16 Digital AES I/O). I am planning on making a digital cable to take 8 channels of digital audio from (4) QRX100s. Hearing the digital pops and clicks every few seconds. Any thoughts? I have tried to setup the Word Clock to listen on the AES input from the card slot, but am still getting the Warning - Word Clock Error (SLOT) message. Thoughts on workflow to make this happen? I MUST have DIGITAL all the way! Thanks! ~Thomas
  10. I am pleased to announce that "Down to the Wire" is now available for the iOS platform as well! We have been working very hard to make it the easiest and most practical interface since it will be viewed on smaller screens instead of an iPad. The experience is not the same, but is incredibly fast and very easy to navigate! We plan on having the Android version (which will work on all android devices and tablets including Kindle Fire) in the next few weeks! https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/down-to-wire-by-video-mantis/id630828182?mt=8 Thanks everyone for supporting the book, and it was awesome seeing everyone at NAB! ~Thomas Popp Video Mantis
  11. Any iPod 5th generation or Blackberry case will work. If you do a search on amazon, they are CHEAP! ~Thomas Popp Video Mantis thomas@videomantis.com
  12. Hi there Zhu! I would recommend checking out my iBook entitled Down to the Wire. It is available in the iBookstore for iPad. It will be available for more formats by NAB (Kindle, iOS iPhone and all Android Devices as standalone apps as well)! 13. Travelled from LA to Texas today. No problems here. As always though - make sure that you give yourself enough time to get through TSA even with delays... What are other people's protocols on Travel Days? I myself as crazy as it sounds will always arrive at the airport 3 hours before the flight takes off. My theory is that if the production is paying for me to travel, then I will be there way before to make sure if anything happens it isn't my fault that I didn't get on the plane! It is also a great time to finish up e-mails, make phone calls, and play with the the toys in the Airport Brookstone store... Had to fight the urge to buy a bluetooth keyboard for my iPad!.
  14. The DC input connector for the QRX100 as well as the RX900 are the same. You need a cable that has a switchcraft 761K connector on it (or an equivalent from a different manufacturer). The IFB100 as well as the STA adapters use a 760K connector - these are visibly shorter than the other connectors! ~Thomas Popp Video Mantis
  15. Thanks Marc! Just keeping everyone updated: I am working hard on revising the book to work in kindle format as well as in hard copy form. I should have something done relatively soon. The biggest issue once again is the fact that no other company besides apple allows for books that have as much interaction as this book has. Amazon has something new called Kindle Format 8, but I don't know too much about it. Anyone here have any experience with it?
  16. For you dave, its 99.99 Thomas Popp thomas@videomantis.com
  17. Hi Jon, The IFB100 works extremely well with any recorder on the market. For your Timecode, you will need to make an IFB100 Jam Cable that ends in a Stereo Mini connector. Very easy cable to make, or you can put in adapter on an existing jam cable that you already have. Check out the manual on Zaxcom's website for the correct schematic. Audio is the same thing. It accepts a line level input from a left and right source - however, it will sum them inside the unit. The way I have used it in the past with my 744T was to just send 1 output to either the left or the right channel of the IFB100. The audio input connector on the IFB100 is a TA5 Connector, and just like the schematic for the TimeCode connector, the audio connector schematic is in there too! PM if you have any questions. I would be happy to help! ~Thomas Popp Video Mantis
  18. It is extremely necessary to have a sound engineer present at weddings. I have a friend that has tried to record sound for his wedding business in the past, and with the quick pace of weddings, interfacing with the church's feed and wiring the bride, groom, and possibly the priest/reverend, the camera operator will run into situations of possibly missing important moments because he is doing two jobs at once. When recording weddings, I recommend using Zaxcom wires, especially because they have built in recording capabilities. If not, depending on range, etc. you may end up having to be out of anyone's eyelines meaning that your reception may suffer (no one wants to see a camera or sound crew at their wedding!) Wire the groom and the priest, and also the bride if possible. Use mic clips and USE WIND PROTECTION! Last wedding My friend recorded sound (cameraman) and forgot to apply wind protection to the lavs. They were on a beach....and it was really windy....ruined the entire soundtrack. ~Thomas Popp Video Mantis
  19. I think that the reason it that comes loose it from over tightening the lava pier over time. As long as it isn't cranked on super tit, it shouldn't have a problem staying put! Now if you are still having issues after this, you may need to send into service if the connector was spinning inside the chassis ~Thomas Popp Video Mantis
  20. Michael, Thanks for the compliments on the videos! ~Thomas Popp Video Mantis
  21. Yup. The IFB100 doesn't have reverse polarity protection. It will have to go in. ~Thomas Popp Video Mantis Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  22. Hey Michael, I recommend just using a small needle nose pliers and gently tightening the nut. It doesn't need to necessarily be a tool in order to do this. Mine have come loose a few times and tightening it with those pliers worked perfectly! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  23. Michael, I do not recommend using anything but what is recommended. I got burned on a job because I used Kingston Cards and they would just randomly stop recording when they felt like it. It also wasn't like they didn't work right out of the packaging either - they worked flawlessly for weeks, and then decided to fail when I was in a remote location where next day Fedex delivery took 4 days.......... ~Thomas Popp Video Mantis
  24. Unfortunately they can't because they don't transmit. Only receive! Thomas Popp thomas@videomantis.com
  25. +1 for Sennheiser G3 wireless. Perfect hops and also great backup wires if you need them! Thomas Popp thomas@videomantis.com
