Used to do sound work on a regular basis. Now I'm restarting.
  • Interested in Sound for Picture
    Yes
  1. This is a fascinating medical issue. I imagine watching anything on TV would cause major headaches. http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn23813-mindscapes-first-man-to-hear-people-before-they-speak.html#.Uda8b-AbZuA
  2. Must come with the Ford upgrade.
  3. Hey, if a little advertising is necessary to prevent this from descending into the hell that RAMPS became, I'm all for it. Frankly, I click on banner ads that are related to the forum topics. I know that on DVXuser I often click on a banner to find out about new products. However, if I start seeing the tracking related ads, I might quickly change my mind.
  4. My wife actually shows some of his videos to her students.
  5. I'm glad to see they aren't letting all that science stuff get in the way of having a good time. Actually, I was rather impressed. Hard to beat those production values.
  6. Most of the talent that I've ever worked with are used to the routine and some even want to tell you that the sound guy on the other shoot had a lot of success hiding the mic "there". I've even had a few that just blurted out, "I'm not shy," and lifted the shirt or blouse the second the saw me approach with the lav & TX. However, even with the most outgoing and cooperative talent, one slip and you're in uncomfortable land. Not a good place to be. The best you can do is be professional, keep a poker face, and get it done as quickly as possible and try not make readjustments. I usually try to have someone from wardrobe there so that if I have to lift clothing or undo anything, that they can get talent back and ready asap. Then again most of the stuff I do is usually pretty small and I've never had to deal with more than 4 actors at once-- I really don't know how the reality guys can do it.
  7. I've had lots of luck with eBay. I've bought and sold items ranging from HD video decks to a Suzuki XL7. The only trouble I had was a coin I sold that wasn't valuable enough to put a tracking number on it. The guy claimed he never got it, but I didn't believe him. He filed a complaint and eBay refunded him and dinged my account for the $12. YMMV, of course.
  8. I don't think this is evidence of Google's imminent takeover of white spaces. In fact, I think this is a relatively useful tool. It isn't the first spectrum database, but it is pretty easy to use with a fairly intuitive browser-based interface. That said, it is Google, so who knows.
