  1. Hi Jack and Toy Robot. Thanks for your replies, really appreciate it. Pm sent. See you in NY.
  2. Hi Abe, thx! Pm sent. We're looking into Park Slope area in Brooklyn. Where do you live? Can you recommend places?
  3. Dear colleagues, In two weeks I'll be moving from Amsterdam to New York to live with my girlfriend (wuuhuuu!). I'll keep on recording sound under a dutch journalist visa. I'll be working for dutch documentaries shot in north or south USA hopefully. I mostly work on documentaries and an occasional commercial or corporate video. Are there any folks out there who like to grab a coffee and have a chat. I think I'm not looking for jobs as I can only work for any country but USA productions, but more for advice on living and working in New York and nice talks. And it's always good to know some colleagues in the city to pass jobs to and ask for advice. All the best, Dennis
  4. Hey Julian, I bought a Wisycom dual receiver set with two transmitters. I really liked the sound and that the receiver is compatible with my other audio ltd transmitters. Also the huge bandwith is great for unexpected situations. I didn't test the lectrosonics after Wisycoms ;-)

  9. Sounds like rf spraying.. but could be anything.. best to contact your dealer I guess. Did you test the 664 with only the boom on channel 5 (and other channels) and internal batteries for powering?
  10. Hi Travis, can you post a longer clip? It sounds like clothing rustle…but don't know because it's so short..

  14. Heard a story of someone (Hi Alex )who knew someone who lost his gear (or got stolen), the insurance company asked for the carnet to prove that the equipment indeed was in a foreign country.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. Thanks for sharing your experiences Vincent. Yes I'm from Holland. I was never asked for a carnet on the dutch airlines, always had to make sure I pass customs myself when leaving / returning. On this case I let the d.o.p decide; if he travels without Carnet I'm too (docu/small crew). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Hi all, some of my sound and camera colleagues travel without ATA Carnet to countries within Europe (sometimes also outside Europe), especially to Russia etc. because of the major hassle it takes to get in and out of customs... I had some bad experience myself in Russia several times (waiting half a day for someone to put a stamp on the papers... ) I have some travelling to do in the couple weeks and want to know if you always travel with Carnet? I was never asked for a carnet in the past, always saw it as my duty to travel fully legal.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. +1 And talk with director and dop. on how to shoot the scene. Train your body in between shoots, we do have a heavy job running and carrying lots of gear so I think staying in shape is very important.
  19. Mailed them right away and got a super quick response within two hours or so.... ; The actual output level from the DX2040 receiver at full deviation is -26dBm, which is greater than mic but below line level. It is only in the last few years that the demand for portable receivers to have line level outputs has come into play. It was only studio mounted equipment where the line level output was requisite. I believe it is only sine the Sound Devices products became available that the demand for line level outs has become more of an issue. We do have the headphone level output available from the DX2040 which has been successfully used by many freelancers to connect to the Cantar and also the Sound devices products. There is no penalty in quality, but it is unbalanced. Also, don’t forget that the RMS2040 series was launched just over 8 years ago. Hopefully we will bring out line level outputs in our next generation of systems.
  20. When linelevel is what we need, how come the audio ltd 2040 DX is mic level only? Been wondering about this for some time.. http://www.audioltd.com/location/dx2040-receiver-the-next-step/
  21. Thanks all! It's my "old" snake I use with my Cooper 104. A new snake is allready in the make for output/return B/C which will be 664 style. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. So I'm using the 10 pin output A to send my audio left/right to camera. Camera receives left/right but return A on the 664 gives me right/left audio... What am I doing wrong? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. What do you mean? Or even better what do you think of Sony L-Type? I saw the Audioroot batteries and charger the other day quite impressive but very expensive. Ran a test today with my good old sony NP-F and DV-SQN4X and got 8.30 hours runtime on a 664 recording 6 tracks. I decided if the test failed (5 or less recording hours) I would go for Audioroot but I was happily surprised.
  24. Back to the X3.. wow just wow what a recorder. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
