I am a french sound mixer based in Quebec for a few years. I have worked mostly on documentaries, but I've been doing more and more fiction in the last two years.

  1. The Sonosax SX-M32 mixer sound great, better than any SoundDevices mixer in my opinion. This is not as easy to find on the used market, but there is one also on the sonosax used page. There is an optionnal connector on the right panel where you can have the directs outs on a 7pin connector. And it is about the same size of a 633...
  2. Thank you Richard, i'll get in touch with Rycote. I can put the board in the two male connector so they'll fit in. best,
  3. Hi, i'm digging out this subject because I wonder how the tac!t cable can be customised. as i understand the filter is in the male connector. Would it be possible then to join two Tac!t cable at female end inside a 5pin female connector (NC5FXX)? to work with MS mics without having to add the weight and space of two Tac!t inside the bag. thank you
  4. I have used both with Schoeps CMC and In my experience Léonard provides much better outdoors wind protection (with fur of course). Leonard is also less fragile than w20 and holds to the mics very well with its two rubber rings. In fact I don't use the w20 anymore.
  5. Thank you. That is what I love about sound device recent mixers. Any problem finds a solution very quickly, if it is not already included!
  6. Boom on 1 and 2 (MS), lectro wireless 4 to 6. Input 3 is an extra. No problem at all to mix. The trim knob is very useful to me as I often record iso, but mixing is also pretty easy with this small faders on channel 4-6. Even with gloves on it is much more easy to operate them than the grey gain knob. The only down point is that you switch to pfl when adjusting a input configuration, for example invert channel 2. But I'm getting used to that.
  7. Small feature but yet usefull, 633 accepts 664 Quick setup files! So it's easy to jump from a machine to another while shooting on the same project. Everything follows : HP presets, track names etc
  8. You can ask Kortwich to change anything you want in the bag and make a custom one that fits your needs. The bags shown on their website are mainly custom bags previously ordered. Talk to them and you will have the bag you dream of.
  9. Alleluja! I love my 664 and didn't liked the MAXX I tried a few weeks ago. Only down is I would have liked an hirose power output... But I can deal without...
  10. I can confirm the sound oh this old french mixer is awesome! Like the rest of recent and old AETA/EAA products.
  11. Influx, Take this as a start point and with some experience you will know how to adjust sensitivity with the situation. But generally speaking this G3 transmitters don't like to have a too high level input signal in my opinion. I can deal with some short transmitter input clipping on my lectros, but not on these. Sounds very bad, so I prefer to avoid it by setting a low input sensitivity.
  12. My usual settings on G3+cos 11 is: TX sensitivity : -36dB AF out: -6dB Gain knob on 664 : between 10 and 12 o' clock. Try that and see if you still have a bad sound...
  13. On 664, when after recording you want to change a file name you just have to enter his metadata into the take list and change the scene (or take) name. File name will automatically be corrected on both CF and SD.
  14. Hi, Is that possible to set a UH400a bloc 23 to 593.775Hz. In order to be received by a UCR195D using this particular frequency. If so what would be the position of the rotary switch on the transmitter. 3-1? 3-2? Thanks
