  • About
Manny Leyva has worked as both a sound utility and boom operator for 19 years. I started my career in Hollywood before moving to Austin 9 years ago. Last fall I completed the first half of the 2nd season of ABC Family's "The Lying Game"
  • Interested in Sound for Picture
    Yes
  1. Is the WTB-WTS closed to new topics? I have gear for sale and wanted to compare and contrast both forums.
  2. The only philosophy I try to rigidly stick to is to not be to stuck on one philosophy. Being open minded and flexible in wiring situations is how I try to deal with clothing noise
  3. Sign out sheet, yes; WIT. I like the shoe tree. I'm gonna steal that.
  4. You've got to somehow get a name to each unit. As a utility, i make time to personally introduce myself to the user/ATL type. It's a great way to get yourself on their radar and to learn the name of the people you work for. At the end of the day your just trying to assign responsibility so you can at least solve the mystery so you can get the search motivated by people who will be paying.
  5. Anybody else waiting to hear if their mid-season cable tv series is going to get picked up after your latest 10 episodes have finished airing and shows hiatus going on 5 months? Share.
  6. 19 years ago when I started you had to work for free to make contacts and get experience. That's just so you could get paying low budget non-union gigs, so you could get days in the sound dept. documented by pay stubs to get into the union. So basically you needed, like was mentioned, some cash to live off of for a while and a free place to stay. For a while.
