  1. Hmmm...seems that the new software has teething problems. I hope it gets sorted - I'm very excited by these new developments.
  2. I've been having some very funny results from the app recently - and it's normally very good. A job mixing Wisycom, Lectrosonics and G3. The app would suggest frequency issues with a channel that was a million miles away from it (like 630 and 570) and when the offending channel was temporarily removed from the list a whole bunch of other clashes would suddenly appear in what was seconds ago a perfectly tuned plot. No matter what we did this would keep happening. In the end we put the single clash back in which killed the others and went with our guts that the channel spaced so far away would be fine (which it was). Any ideas? I'll email James as well.
  3. As I've already said on the Zaxcom Facebook page - this is a quite excellent update. Thanks Glenn!
  4. Off the top of my head you might need to be using Wisycom to get this kind of thing to work. I believe the average G3 on the same band can tune in to the transmitters and thus dial up and down the various talent presets.
  5. Yes, it is pretty heavy. Maybe they didn't go with the carbon composite type thing used on SD recorders for cost reasons. Obviously the Nomad is still lighter than a 664 but that machine is HUGE. I'd love a RX12 for practicality when using lots of wireless, but like Rado I'm not keen on the idea of trogging around the extra weight day to day - even if I pulled receivers out. Shame that I can't afford both!
  6. Actually, where is the battery/BDS in that bag?
  7. Obviously going to have some weight as it seems to have the same 'weighs-like-a-bastard' one piece metal cover as the Nomad, but I'm still impressed with the size and neatness of the above rig. Looks twenty times more compact than the photos I've seen of them crammed in Orca bags (no FP8 mind you). If Zax can find a lighter material to make the chassis out of for future recorders and the like, then our spines will be eternally grateful.
  8. That bag looks great! Very small!
  9. That's a bit crap. I note that two of the 'competition' who produce a slot in rack for RX have supplied covers for the empty slots from day one.
  10. Ah, I imagine I won't be doing that regretfully. Poor old Nomad doesn't want me flailing about in it's innards.
  11. I vaguely recall this from another thread, but did you self-tune the Nomad or did Zaxcom do it?
  12. It would be impressive even without the bag. How the wireless were so clean when running full pelt is beyond me (and many others to judge from this thread).
  13. That's impressive. Have you got any other photos of the rig? It's a bit unclear to me in that one.
  14. This is something I've always struggled with on performers in general not just pro runners - the clothing bounce noise when jogging or running even small distances nixes the dialogue. Doesn't matter if the lav is bodyworn or on the clothing itself - WHUMP WHUMP WHUMP. It's no surprise that on the Eddie Izzard marathon documentary they used very exposed visible lavs and had a peddle car tracking him with a boom on a stand on it for casual runners who joined him.
  15. I use 1 & 2 all the time as camera returns. Never heard anything nastier than whatever the camera was outputting.
  16. I'll have to check mine. I've never used returns 3 & 4.
  17. Or *cough* Audio Ltd. Who likely are doing that, but simply not releasing it in the US (allegedly).
  18. Thanks Jack, Jeff. Interesting stuff for sure. There's going to be a fresh demand for sun visors for tablet screens in future I think! We all know what they are like in the sunshine!
  19. The touch screen part of the Deva 32 and Oasis - can the various 'windows' for each parameter be pulled aound the screen and 'minimised' as on conventional Windows and Mac computers allowing the user to truly customise his or her working 'desktop'? Glenn mentioned the practicality of trying to put everything on one screen - I'm curious as to whether Zaxcom considered getting the monitor feeds on there as well? A 20 inch screen could be a practical place in which to slot stuff, particularly if a monitor 'window' could be expanded to fill such a large screen if required.
  20. Calm down Jack, I was merely conjecturing. Hence the bit where I say 'difficult to do'.
  21. Android operating systems outsell iOS in almost all markets except the U.S. where they effectively tie, and Japan. Of course Android is only the OS and not limited to one phone. In terms of single units the iPhone and iPad has been an extraordinary success worldwide as is easily demonstrated by Apples bank balance. In television and film I'd say the casual use of Apple devices is proportionally way higher than Android. Because we are all hipsters.
  22. See above, I'd struggle to find 'normal' TV shows outside of multitrack reality work that would not require main audio sent to camera even if a recording is also being made. I don't really think of a scratch track as a 'proper' wireless link given that it is generally mono, not for broadcast and can be achieved using devices way below the spec of SRB, QRX, Wisy and Audio Ltd. It's more of a courtesy for sync purposes.
