  1. I think it's a hangover from older analogue mixers (and probably in reference to stereo mics). The SQN has exactly this 'feature'. My Nomad has phase reversal available on each channel, but also has delay available on each input as well, so...
  2. Interesting that the above review on Trewaudio suggests they might not be the best idea combined with Lectro receivers. I kind of fancied one, but I use Lectro SR.
  3. I have the miracle whip antenna for my SR. Cutting them to the size specified by the included chart yielded awful results. Cutting them to match the length of my right-angled Lectro aerials was transformative. In fact they perform much better than the right-angled ones! The length DOES matter IMO.
  4. Sounds good. Any chance of a dweedle tone for the LF cut? That would be useful.
  5. I'm assuming the video rack is not included in the £499 price point for the Red? The price point is a bit ouchie, but then these things always seem expensive and I'm sure your maufacturing costs are not cheap.
  6. Update on my little problem - and by no means a fully convincing test - but having been using Remote Audio Miracle Whip antenna on my SR cut to the length specified by their included chart I bit the bullet and cut them shorter to the exact same length as the Lectro supplied right angle doofers (which weirdly don't seem to correspond to the trim charts at all in terms of frequency). Not altogether surprised to find that range has so far increased enormously. I am surprised to find that it's greater than on the original Lectro ones though which had also been spotty! One day in the field isn't long enough to tell, but so far so good.
  7. Impressive. The removable display and waterproofing look like great ideas. Very good pricepoint too. Kudos. I like how the slate easily stands up on the 'L' shape, however I must say that for me the sharp corners and the powdercoat are not ideal. As seen in the drop test I can imagine that getting scratche pretty quickly or the leading edge bent. Good work anyway.
  8. I concur. A similar device to the 'hole-stoppers' for the Lectro Octopak seems like a good starting point. Not foam.
  9. Any movememt on a Nomad dashboard? Of course it will have to be silver or blue to match the zaxcom gear : )
  10. I think if you are regularily running 8 -10 zaxcom wireless channels in a bag then the RX-12 makes sense. For 6 and less the weight differential may not be as favourable. I dunno. I haven't added it up. You'd certainly lose a lot of flexibility but end up with a much tidier bag and a powerful 'control centre'.
  11. Thanks Rado. How much would all the cabling required for 6 QRX add up to though? That has to be considered although as you'll still need output leads from the RX-12 (split if using analogue) I don't know how much of a reduction that gives you.
  12. I guess we need the exact weights of the rack itself and each RX. I can't seem to find those anywhere, only the fully loaded spec. You'd still need some kind of BDS with the RX-12 to power the Nomad, although that is probably the most negligable weight next to the batteries and cabling. I wonder how long you'd get off a single NP1 if powering it and a mixer/recorder?
  13. I'd have to find his quote, but he may have been sizing up the RX-12 with 6 pull out units vs his own 6 RX with Micplexer. The inference being that in a bag situation your are unlikely to be carrying the full whack for most jobs.
  14. So, as long as one didn't want to alter any settings you could continue working without the rack? Unless the failure was power supply related?
  15. Rado has compared it with his rig. There was a big difference.
  16. Does he? He never used to. I find that surprising given his incredible eye for lighting. And not a little depressing.
  17. Any of the features on the ever growing but verrrrrry slowly fulfilled Zaxcom Nomad request list. Any of 'em!
  18. Actually, no. If we are talking about Lectrosonics then because of Larry's highly 'open book' posts above we can easily see that only the shipping and dealer overheads (and they presumably purchase at trade price) are left after working out the exchange rate for the UK. Import tax, VAT and any associated costs to do with EU rules are irrelevant as previously noted. Of course this does not apply to other manufacturers whose cost calculations we are not party to and also non wireless kit which has a small import penalty (coming into the UK).
  19. Worth noting I think that the regulated outputs on Hawkwoods NP1 cups (for Audio Ltd mics) can induce RF issues in some recievers and transmitters.
  20. Thanks Larry. I think the whole subject of 'foreign pricing' is very interesting and your candour is welcomed. The fact that Lectro don't pass on the extra development and testing costs to EU customers is great, although it does leave one wondering where the extra money goes. If anyone cares - the UK import duty is : Wireless kit 0%. For mixers 3.7% Digital recorders 2% I've derailed this thread long enough I think.
  21. In fairness to Larry I'm very aware that despite price discrepancies the 'Euro' Lectro are very much dependant on the US dollar. My dealers have pointed this out when I've been considering purchases on various occasions. I have no idea if other audio gear manufacturers also play by that rulebook, but have not come across the same kind of 'buy-it-now-the dollar-is-favourable' kind of offers on my other stuff. Wireless kit is not supposed to be subject to UK customs (import) duty (worth bearing in mind in those aforementioned 'discussions') and as VAT is generally claimed back by most UK mixers it is largely an irrelevance. If Lectro historically have not passed on the higher testing costs to the customers that should logically leave only shipping and dealer overheads as the margin for difference, combined with the exchange rates. I think this is where some of the 'price gouging' type of arguments have come from. It's not quite as simple as it seems.
  22. This is excellent! I do hope that $760 list price doesn't become £760 over here...
  23. RSS subscription will give a constant feed of all updated traffic on a site. That is nowhere near as concise as pertinent emails. Seriously, what is with people's issues with Zaxcom running email updates - something that they clearly had in mind to do previously?
  24. Me too, although so much software now requires 6.0 or higher that I think my patience has run its course.
  25. Indeed. Plus many of the updated functions remain part of beta versions only. Minor bugs notwithstanding I don't think it's a major bind to send out emails when serious issues raise their heads. Obviously I would rather Zaxcom spent their time devoted to testing new software and implementing new features and requests, but I also don't want to be caught trousers down on set by a major software or hardware quirk that I missed on the forums.
