  1. Would love to do a gig in Atlanta. I doubt there paying for travel.
  2. I did as well. QRX200 and ERX. I was on a commercial and my boom op colleague who also mixes in town brought his setup of Zax wireless. I just mentioned the ERX because of the above comment. I've always loved Zaxcom wireless but have had a hard time getting them because of price. Well worth the price but my market hasn't really been able to get the finances for a complete setup. I may be getting a Zax setup later this year. Long story but I was sold on the Nomad (I was considering getting a SD 644 originally) via colleagues in town, lighter than most of the other recorders and Neverclip. Have been going back and forth between selling the unit and getting a 633 and/or keeping it and going ahead and having Zax taking all my money. It is a freakin' nice set of wireless they made. Love remote gain and freq change all from the recording unit. What a great concept. Didn't have to touch talents transmitter at all. We even had a Zax TRX742 and everything work flawlessly. Except one caveat. I wasn't used to using Zaxnet on my recorder and was gaining up the wrong transmitter. Learning curve. Oops. My boom op was wondering why his mic was sounding louder and louder.
  3. Just used an ERX for the first time. I own a Nomad but I do not have any Zaxcom wireless and it blew me away that you could use a receiver with having to buy an additional transmitter. Merely sending from the recorder via Zaxnet. I mean I've read a lot of the literature but when you actually use it on a job, it really sinks in. Why would camera people be turning it off though?
  4. Just read the April 2016 issue of AC magazine. What a great write-up on both Vilmos Zsigmond and Haskell Wexler.
  5. Apparently as well I'm getting damn near decrepit because I didn't see the North Hollywood part of it.
  6. Thanks. My bad. I totally glossed over the phone number. I had my blinders on with the low rate. Thanks again.
  7. I have used one before. I own a small C-stand I use as a boom pole holder for sit-down interviews and I've used it with a platter from G&E. It's fallen over even with a sand bag on it. It will work if people are careful. I just rather use something a little less top heavy.
  8. To add, seeing your father's documentary film Who Needs Sleep was an eye opener and I will forever be grateful for his contribution to all filmmakers working in the industry who fight the good fight of safety. As far as I am concerned he was not only a filmmaker but a champion to all people who work in our industry to try and make a safe place to go to work. Thanks Haskell.
  9. My deepest condolensces to you and your family Jeff. Your father was and will always be an inspiration to all filmmakers and storytellers for years to come. MY thoughts will be with you. The film community has truly suffered a great loss.
  10. Sounds to me like you have the possibility of a new business or side business at least. Quality work.
  11. I am sure this has been addressed here before. How do you change a title of a post. Like when I see that something has SOLD in the Want to Buy section. For the life of me I can't see how to do that. I'd like to change something to SOLD once the buyer has purchased the item so I don't annoy people with my ad. Thanks.
  12. I'd love to do it but like Al Maguire I'm in Orlando. Would love for a company to fly me somewhere. I've never had an opportunity to work outside of Florida. I feel I may retire this game without ever doing so.
  13. $250 for 1.5 days, boom, recorder, and lavs as well as feeding to RED Epic? Which is most likely a wireless hop to camera. That's at least $850/day for 10 hour day. Unless I am crazy. Depending on how many wires he needs. I'd do it if the guy wants to give me, in cash, money for food and a high end hotel. I'll stay with my father in Miami and pocket the difference. Man these guys are now "vulture-ing out" now that Florida has no incentives to shoot. It's like the price gouging after Hurricane Andrew in 1992.
  14. I love the contrasting description of "it will be very low budget commercial high quality production..." Huh??
  15. Wish I was closer to NC. I'm in Florida Curious, what's the rate?
  16. I wish I had that many mics... I feel a bit emasculated...
  17. I've owned an MKH416 for years and pretty much the mic I've used a lot. I;ve used CMIT (Awesome but of course expensive. Worth it), AKG shotguns, Shure I have seen but do not like them. By far though the 416 is one of my favorites and it's a workhorse. In my dream of dreams and if money was no object...yeah a Scheops CMIT Super would be my choice with a CInela. So light and boom friendly. I just don't see me affording a Scheops mic in this century. However, I can agree with many here, that Sennheiser has some great alternatives. The ME66 was one of the first mics I used a lot because I worked at a video/audio rental and I could use it for free on my first gigs. Not a bad mic for the price and Sennheiser makes quality mics. I don't know what compression you're hearing in a 416. Yes, they are bright. I've never had any complaints for that though. I would love to move to another mic myself. As far as wireless Lectros IMHO is the best. Range is great. I have older Lectros that still have better range than others and this is with not external antennas. They also take a beating well. Not to discredit other brands. I would have to concur that a Lectro/Sanken combo is great and you won't regret the quality.
  18. Yep, I saw it yesterday and it was still there. I honestly did n to read it all word for word. Mostly, skimmed the majority. It was too exhausting to read all of it.
  19. Not to mention...did he just give away the entire show so someone could easily make with it and rip it off or change it slightly and he'd be totally screwed. I highly doubt this nut job made any legal backing for this idea.
  20. "It's not insane to me, it's just normal and regular." Yeah, that's what insane people think like. Dude, your off...
  21. Very nice. I love the shelf idea. I might borrow that idea for my cart if that's okay.
  22. I know this thread is really old but as I was looking for a way to build some low profile XLR right angle cable, I decided to try a test since my solder skills are movie at best. I liked your version that I really thought was simple enough for me to attempt. I think I may have made a great duplicate of your version. By the way thanks for the great tips and direction. I'm excited now to make different versions form some of the great examples on here.
  23. I've actually been a little lucky with Staff Me Up more than production hub. Used to be free and now in order to apply for the jobs you have to have a membership. I won't pay because yes, not much work from it in Florida at all and ever.
