  1. Its the SRB Lectro receiver They are at opposite ends of a sound bag so cant be further away than that! I think its more to do with a problem with how focused the transmission frequency of the Sony is and also the power output of the Sony which I thought was around the same as the Sennheiser g3s which are 30mW
  2. These are the suspects, but in the Channel 38 606 version http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/553684-REG/Sony_UWP_V1_4244_UWP_V1_Wireless_Lavalier_Microphone.html
  3. Hi With a choice of buying a Sennheiser coms which can only be used as coms or getting the Sony utx -b2 transmitter receiver set for the same price and using it in reverse I thought Id try the Sony set because it has a dedicated headphone output on the receiver with volume control. With all transmitters off I can scan using my Lectrosonics dual receiver and it will show all frequencies to be clear for use. But if I turn on my Sony transmitter and rescan it shows all of Channel 38 - 606 to be used!!! Ive even tried tuning the Sony transmitter to the upper end of Ch38 and its still affecting the lower end too at 606 I think the 2 units I have are faulty but Im wondering if anyone else uses these Sonys as coms and has the transmitters in the bag without getting the interference? The Sennheisers dont seem to do this when their transmitter is in the bag but you cant really use them in revers for coms as they dont have a headphone out and you cant get enough volume out of them for headphone use. Thanks for any feedback or thoughts!
  4. Ive made up a cable that will screw lock into the Senni G3 receiver and the other end is a 5pin male xlr for the alexa BUT - the g3 outputs at mic level so even with the out put boosted to max +12db on the g3 and turning up the alexa inputs to max the tone is still down at -30 - which is ok for a scratch track but if you wanted usable audio you would need to be sending in at line level. This is a mono feed so I tried to put the right channel on both tracks but when I did this I heard nothing coming out of headphones - as if the L and R were out of phase and cancelled each other when the same thing was on both channels? The separation betwen left and right didnt seem very good either, turning off 1 channel was still giving me audio in both ears on the headphone output Also the headphone out of the Alexa is has no obvious volume Im going to do more tests tomoro
  5. I got the INvision6 from Rycote - which ones did you find worked best? Its such a tiny mic when you see it for real - any photos online never really had anything else in the photo to give an idea of scale.
  6. The sennheiser g3 receiver is a mic level out so how are you able to get the Alexa line level only input in and up to a audible level? I know you are turn the reciever's output up to +12 but then are you having to turn up the Alexa inputs to max too?
  7. whats the wiring for the minijack to the 5pin male xlr going into the Alexa? Im going to make up a cable for just 1 channel from a senni g3 reciever to go into the camera as a guide. Perhaps I can cable it in a way that the channel goes onto both tracks on the Alexa. Im just wondering what the alexa is expecting on each of the 5 pins?
  8. What card readers have you bought to read the media from the 664? I suppose usb3 is the one to go for but which brands and models?
  9. I know that Sennheiser make a bass cut for the 8050 but my point was that you cant place it between the capsule and the preamp which you can on a Schoeps Colette system. Some people unscrew the 8050 and think the pre-amp is the xlr module but the capsule and its preamp are in the same unit. I spoke to someone who works in Sennheiser yesterday who thought this! By the sounds of it neither setting on Sennheisers bass filter is going to work well for boom poling. You have a choice between too little at too low a frequency or too much at too high a frequency. Its certainly not a bass module designed for recording speech on the end of a boom pole. Rycotes Tac!T is soldered into the male XLR body between the pins and until that last comment was looking like the best and least expensive solution. Its worrying if its going to pick up loads of interference - its doesnt really made it an option - unless someone knows of a way of using incorporating the Tac!t without all the interference? The other options would be the Schoeps LC 60 inline bass cuts - has anyone used them and did they cause any increase in interference? Thanks again for your feedback
  10. I always thought that it was better to insert a bass cut between the capsule and the mic's own preamp to prevent any overload by bass? Schoeps make a cut1 to insert between capsule and their CMC preamp its a lot more expensive than the other bass cut module which is just a female to male xlr unit which inserts anywhere in teh xlr cables after the mic With the 8050 its only possible to insert a basscut after the mic's capsule and preamp unit and Im wondering if this going to cause problems?
  11. Im looking to buy an 8050 for indoor use on tv and film on the end of a boom pole. Obviously handling noise is going to be an issue on the end of a pole. So Im wondering about the fact that you cannot put a basscut between the capsule and the preamp on the 8050, unlike the schoeps collete system. So my options are: 1 - to put in a bass cut made by sennheiser for the 8050 which plugs in just after the capsule+preamp unit 2 - to use Rycote's Tac!t cable just after the mic unit 3 - just to use the bass cut on my 442 mixer Obviously options 2 and 3 are a lot cheaper but I want the best sound possible, Im just not sure if spending 6 times the money on the Sennheiser bass cut is worth it if a simpler solution exists which doesnt affect the sound quality What are people's experience with the 8050 on the end of the pole and its handling noise? And what bass cut options have worked for you with regards to traffic rumble etc and boom handling noise? Thanks for any feedback!!
  12. Did you upload files for a listen? How did you find the 2 senni mics?
