  1. I have never been impressed by any Rode build quality
  2. You should have a basic cleaning cost built into your rate based on the amount of time you think it will take you to do it all, like a half day at the end of the project Knowing you are going to an ex-stream environment (desert, beach, etc.) pad some more time to equal what you think it is going to take. On a location change to an ex-stream environment just say it will add x hours for work they are not going to see in wrap up cleaning time or the whole kit gets D&Led.
  3. reading over the link it looks link it has to do with CF and SD cards I know people that have been using DAWs with W10 from beta and full release
  4. a: send this to the posted email address and the sales manager b: working w/o ones own gear increase the labor rate and you get the producer's autograph on a letter that you are not responsible for any problems with the gear supplied
  5. coiled cord is just highly micro-phonic they all suck I use Beldon 1804A for jumpers nice low handling noise I only tie the female XLRs that attached to the mic to pin 1, never the male XLR never knowing how a manufacture ties their chassis and pin 1 together in the receiving device
  6. August 5th at LSC https://www.facebook.com/events/1622805994643520/
  7. UV brakes everything down and it will rot if left damp
  8. Who really thinks Zoom can deliver on the specs thy have posted (especially at the price point)? To me the numbers look like the took theoretical bests for the individual components and stuck them together What in Zoom's past make you think they can pull this off?
  9. my problem is not with the workflow, my problem is the OP's lack of detail on the project & goals from the start
  10. given Tascam's stated the clock error rate, why bother it's to sloppy
  11. I have for rental database used a p-touch to put B/Cs on as much as possible (tip: if you use say 1/2" for the label use 3/4" clear and use spaces to make a protection cover) most P-Touches only do 3of9 so there is a 13 character limit (I think it's 13) so you will need to make abbreviation codes
  12. you know if you laid it all out instead of generalities we might be able to help more
  13. well given how you opened, you left out a ton of detail OK the proper way to do this assuming you have a HD rig with Sync HD and a master TC generator as well at your Sync Generator to feed all devices In the Pro Tools session you set up Audio tracks as normal for multi-tracking and mute them (or send them all to a dead patch bus) then also set up a set of Aux tracks with inputs matching the Audio tracks bussed to a mono or stereo Audio track to do a live rough mix for the editors to cut to (exporting the mix with the time stamp). Then you can mix the raw tracks at your leisure and everything matches via TC (but include head & tail slates) Usually audio mix is not done until there is at least rough cut to mix to
  14. I hope you don't tell the students that they will get work in the industry with that ass backwards work flow.
  15. internal settings are out of balance in AMS?
  16. were you feeding it 12V or 48V phantom I find the noise goes up on low voltage phantom
  17. I'll take my large cap studio mics over this any day
  18. http://splur.gy/r/T7Q3y/r/2ZnhSBHhHBZ who doesn't like to win stuff
  19. I haven't looked at Boom Recorder for some time Echo Cancellation sounds like a nice idea but I'd be afraid of over processing , and I don't like glossing over problems that are going to be handed off to someone else Impulse Response generation would be nice Double M/S and Surround Mic track support Dante support if it's not in yet
  20. personally I don't think anything on that list is better than what you have better to save up and get into a used Sound Devices unit
  21. Pro Tools quick tip: holding the Shift key when going into playback or record runs at half speed this would be useful in your case to record at half speed so stranded playback is double speed for rehearsal
  22. Oh, the dream of a lotion scout that listens and not just looks
  23. https://www.izotope.com/en/products/post-production/rx-final-mix/
  24. JBL LSR305 would be my choice but a pair is a little over your budget cost no object, Focal
