  1. The MixPre does not charge batteries. AA alkalines are not recommended since they are not great with higher current devices and MixPre can draw up to 7.5W. Again, read this for powering options: https://www.sounddevices.com/tech-notes/mixpre-3-mixpre-6-powering-options
  2. Regarding powering, this should help clarify things ... https://www.sounddevices.com/tech-notes/mixpre-3-mixpre-6-powering-options
  3. Mike - you are also correct that you can put Channel in Advanced mode to get your full pan and low cut settings. I said in my earlier comment that you set Channel to Basic - that's wrong - I meant set Gain to Basic so that your ISOs are post channel fader knob.
  4. The low cut filter is fixed at 80Hz in Basic mode. To use selectable low cut frequency, you have to be in Advanced mode or Custom mode with Channel set to Advanced.
  5. MixPre updates file headers during recording so If u lose power your recording is safe.
  6. All ISOs and mix tracks are recorded into one polyphonic file. Yes it can. 1.5A USB power source required for full functionality. The MixPre will tell you if the source is underpowered.
  7. Folks - you can use channel knobs to adjust your ISO levels. To do this, you would select Custom mode and set Record to Advanced and leave Channel set to Basic. When Channel is set to Basic, ISO levels are post channel knob and when Record is set to Advanced, ISOs can be armed.
  8. Ch 1-6 on the silver trims and ch 7-12 trims on the mini black faders.
  9. Trims 1-6 are 100% analog and so cannot be controlled via remote interface. When the CL-12 is connected, trims 7-12 appear on the mini-faders 7-12. So, although you don't have the perfect situation of having trims just above the faders on the CL-12, you still have pretty easy direct access to all 12 trims with just a short reach to the 688 front panel. Paul
  10. Hi Nick This is actually not a bug, but a feature of the 688 designed to simplify setting up the optimum audio path. The 688 automatically sets the SRBs gains to +2 to achieve optimal audio level with trim control at 12 o'clock (0dB). There's no reason to set the SRB to any other level. Use the 688's trim pot to make any necessary adjustments. Hope this helps Paul ... and not just optimal audio level, but best matching of SRb output to our input stage for best dynamic range!! Paul
  11. For those of you who want to dig a little deeper into the SuperSlotTM open standard .... http://superslot.org/
  12. Does the file open and show metadata in Wave Agent?
  13. Folks, Just to clarify... Video Devices is a new brand name and identity for our video product line i.e. all current PIX recorders + any future video-centric products. All Video Devices branded products are manufactured by Sound Devices, which continues to be our company name. This article offers a clear explanation of why we took this important step: http://www.sounddevices.com/news-events/news/sound-devices-introduces-video-devices regards Paul
  14. Any of the line, AES, MADI or Dante inputs can be routed to any record track. You can edit scene/take/notes track names and more before, during or after recording and all edits are automatically rippled to all simultaneous drives on the fly (up to 4 drives). There are several BWF file name formats including, scene-take, reel+incrementing number, reel-scene-take, + more.
  15. CF caddy and SSD/HDD caddy slots are behind the flip down screen. There are also two rear panel eSATA connectors for connecting almost any eSATA external SSD/HDD
  16. I'm not Jon, but here goes.... You can deliver SSD, HDD, CF or over Internet via Ethernet.
  17. Yes ... the 970 already supports CF card recording via the CF caddy.
  18. If you want to clean data from your card, I recommend the in-built format option. You don't need a washing machine!
  19. Yes - easy with or without a keyboard. And all edits simultaneously go across both media so that backup is always identical to master.
  20. Maybe this will answer your question ....
  21. Unfortunately one of the conditions of my employment with Sound Devices was that my memory had to be reformatted .... and sadly, the data is unsalvageable because it was a low-level lobotomy. Seriously though I think your SSD options will be a bit limited since the drive interface is IDE, not SATA. Good luck! Paul Isaacs Director of Product Development Sound Devices LLC
  22. Peter - fair and accurate comments. Just wanted to point out that the next 260 firmware release should address most of the issues you raise. Simon - sorry for intervening in this 'user' thread. Just thought you'd like to know that we're on the case. Paul Sound Devices
  23. Hi Greg I'm not going into specifics here but rest assured we are working on 664 screen improvements amoung many other things! best Paul
  24. The Sound Devices PIX260i with its 32-track BWF audio capability is also an option ... Anyone in the New york area on the 14th March who's interested to know more, head over to Gotham Sound to get the full low down. It'd be great to see you Paul
  25. Did i hear the word drinks ........ mmmm! I'll be at BVE with Shure Distribution if any anyone fancies a chat about the new PIX260i or 664...
