  1. The two issues that I know of with Waves Fit and Scorpio are resolved. One was due to an internal hardware change with the Waves Fit that we added support for once we were informed of the change. The second thing that was optimized was the smoothness of the trim gain pot adjustments. Paul
  2. We're still waiting for your dealer to pass the video on to us. We'll chase them up. Let's take this troubleshooting off line now - there are too many variables to do this via text. Thx Paul
  3. Quick update on this, Trevor. We have clarified that this is NOT a NexLink control issue since transmitters are not powering off, they remain on and continue to record fine. This is mostly likely an RF issue which could be caused by a myriad of different environment or setup reasons. We need a lot more info before we can determine what the cause is. Someone from SD support should be reaching out to you pretty soon. Paul
  4. Happy to trouble shoot this with you offline. It'll have nothing to do with the wireless lighting control because NexLink is a protocol with its own proprietary command set and packet format. Feel free to reach out to me or Danny, Laura, Zach or Dennis at SD. Paul
  5. With Nexus docked, the 8-series trim knobs ARE adjusting 8-series digital input gain - they are not controller knobs for digital output gain on the Nexus. The Nexus output gains are set to unity (0 dB), then you apply whatever 8-series trim gain you need to bring the received signal to the level you need. Since the 8-series gain is digital gain for a Nexus input, there is no noise penalty. Of course, if you crank the 8-series gain super high (there is up to 60 dB digital trim gain available), you can exceed 0 dBFS and get digital distortion so you still need to set gains appropriately. You can get the same benefits of GainForward with Cantar or any other mixer - just set your Nexus digital output gains to a fixed nominal level (unity or more if you need more level), then connect via Dante or AES to your Cantar (or other mixer) and apply digital gain there. As long as the signal remains in the digital domain throughout the entire signal path, there will be no noise penalty.
  6. Hi Henri - I believe all of these issues have been resolved and /or improved in recent firmware updates. If you still run into problems, we'd like to troubleshoot further with you.
  7. Here is a video of AutoAssign in action ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyW9z5gcwZ0
  8. Expand A20-Nexus from 8 channel to 12 or 16 channels. Buy or rent the extra channels. Automatically and remotely deploy up to 16 clean channel frequencies in seconds and globally turn On/Off all TX ..... all from distances much further than the audio RF forward link. [Additional information and advertising is available at the Sound Devices website]
  9. Way less than 20W. About 12W.
  10. There's something for every taste ... Sonosax LC8+, Icon Platform M+, Waves FIT, XTouch and of course Sound Devices own CL16 and CL12. They all have some ability to be customized to your own preferences by using the 8-series Mapping feature.
  11. Both of these things will come soon in future firmware update. FYI, to assist in frequency coordination, you can export the Nexus RTSA freq/dBm data as CSV file for importing into frequency coordination tools.
  12. You can do that docked or not. When docked, all 16 channels pass from Nexus to 888 via the expansion port and so can be recorded as backup on the 888. At the same time, those 16 channels can be routed to the main cart from the 888's Dante port.
  13. Production Sound is still and will always be our primary industry.
  14. You can get up to 5.5 hours with 3x Lithium AAA batteries. Recommend using Long Range modulation as it allows lower RF powers to still achieve good range.
  15. All NoiseAssist processing is done in realtime internally in the 8-series ... This is a very complex algorithm that has taken a long and intensive development to get it to suppress noise effectively with only 1ms latency.
  16. The way to view NoiseAssist, is it's simply another tool in your toolbox which you can use when in a situation where you can't escape the background noise e.g. distant traffic or air conditioning. And like all processing (EQ, compression gating etc), do not over apply - it can then be very effective. It can be applied to ISOs or Mix buses or both. Paul
  17. The ability to record in 32-bit float is a future possibility on the 8-series.

    scorpio!

Mano - you are correct! Blue allows you to create mixes independent of the pre or post fader gains feeding the main mix. This technique is often used for creating custom monitor mixes for musicians but could also be useful for creating personalized IEM feeds on set.
  19. No. The SL-2 is powered by the 8-series via the interconnect.
