  1. This isn't exactly a camera rig, but a simple solution to a perennial camera issue: where to put the dang thing. Adapt/adopt or die. Jan
  2. Can't wait for the results of your testing, Jeff. This could be a great solution for a problem I'm noodling (the new and improved car rig setup). Jan
  3. Here, here! Or is it 'Hear! Hear!'? Thanks for the hearty welcome. Look forward to years of getting to know you all. Best, Jan
  4. Just spent the last 4 days in and out of reading this forum. Net-net: humbled and grateful. What an amazing resource and community. Stuck for years with the RAMPS-monster, but rarely posting because of the atmosphere there. How refreshing. Cannot begin to say how happy this makes me. Jan
  5. Same dilemma recently, Richard. Went with MyFax.com for $10/month. What I liked about it, was that they give you an actual fax number for incoming faxes. The only times I've had to use it in the last year were for my accountant and for the Teamsters, who always want directions faxed. The capacity to fax was the next-to-last reason for keeping the land line active. Any day now, the land line will go the way of the 8-track tape... The last reason has to do with NYC-related disaster situations wherein cell phone service is disrupted for long periods of time. Worth that $20/month for a telephone security binkie? Maybe. Maybe not.
  6. Good question. NY mixer John McCormick has a custom upright cart that breaks in half for transport. He uses 2 2x8 boards with metal ramp-ends to roll the bottom part of the cart into the back of his mini-van from about 25 feet away at a running start. The cart kinda roll-bounces into the back cargo compartment. I always shut my eyes when he does it. If you've ever seen him do it, it's quite spectacular. I've a call in to John to see if it's OK for me to pass along his contact info to you. Best, Jan
