  1. I simply said I was thinking it will be good enough for webwork. Then I said "Only time will tell if the Pre is junk" Not quite how you arrived at if the pre is junk, it will be good enough for webwork. I didn't say anything of the sort. from some reviews on B&H it seems ti be a decent little device for a hundred bucks
  2. Thanks. I went to the store an bought a bunch of cables an started testing. The RCA fom the recorder to monitor input of the 33 works great. Now I have my G2's (700mhz doh!) and boom kit all ready to go. I am so excited to have all the gear to get great sound up and working. This beats the crap out of my Zoom and Rode video mic setup.
  3. I want to monitor the sound at the recorder. I have a monitor input on the Shure FP33 and was wondering if I should feed the mixer monitor input from the 1/4 headphone jack output of the Marantz PDM 617 or should I use the RCA. Basically if you were me and had this gear, what would you do? (please don't say sell it;) Thanks for your time, AKf
  4. Sounds like Hollywood is F'ed. Spoiled & Greedy people attempt to suck you dry, then when you leave, the beg you on all fours to stay. I am afraid it might be a little too late. Actually I am surprised it took this long. Most industries have spread out due to globalization. I think you need to grow and adapt or be left behind. The world is a much different place now, technology and networking has opened the doors for people to do what they want and where they want. When a production costs a couple of hundred million, even the smallest percentage in savings, incentives or tax breaks are huge amounts of money. Instead of paying to play in Hollywood, it seems lots of other locations are the ones willing to do the paying just for the business. Anyways it's sad to see all of the talented people that live and work on productions in LA loose a way to make a living.
  5. Thanks for the info. As to the plug and play issue, I believe they call it, "hot swappable" when you can unplug and re-plug stuff without a system restart. Instead of buying the MOTU piece, I bought an adapter from Shure, the X2U. I bought it because from the specs, it seems it will do the job plus, it is super small. +48V Phantom power, pre-amp with Microphone Gain Control, Zero Latency Monitoring and is 16 bit 48 kHz. I think it will be good enough for the web work I plan to do. Only time will tell if the Pre is junk. I am hoping for the best but expect the worst. Again thanks for taking time to respond, AKf
  6. Not Meant to Hijack, but does anyone use Audition?
  7. Anyone Using MOTU MicroBook II Link Here Hi I was looking to buy an Audio interface for my PC. This too is an all new endeavor for me. I was hoping to hear from some of the fine folks here about this topic. I want to hook a standard Condenser MIC which requires 48V Phantom Power to my PC. So what do you use to send MIC signals to your PC? Have you use or have you heard of the MOTU Microbook II? If so what are your thoughts? If no what are your thoughts? In my book, there is always room for information about alternative solutions. I am never against saving a few bucks as long as the quality isn't being negated. (I know you get what you pay for). Thanks for taking time to help. AKf
  8. Well you both have my full attention.
  9. I watched and enjoyed Hype too. If you don't mind me asking, How did you get the handle, "Senator"?
  10. My 5D Mk III does time code. Here is a basic tut here. I love my DSLR, but I know it is not considered to be a professional video camera.
  11. I loved that video. The narration is nice too, man that thing was moving fast.
  12. Thanks for the link. I read the top three. I like the Wrong,Wrong! post
  13. Sorry this post was a waste of space in this forum. Cheers.
  14. Copyright and contracts can be very cryptic. However there are very specific key points that the lawyers always visit to see if you have a case. I would be interested to hear some more specific information about Jacks contract..
