After 2 years of absence 'll be in Amsterdam from 12.-14. Sept. @IBC, focus on all the audio news in general and Lectro producs in special, because I indend to invest in a few transmitter/receivers until end of this year. ...and of course say 'HELLO' to all the people at Ambient, Cinela, Rycote, Schoeps, Sounddevices, etc

this was in Zurich, Switzerland. Hosted by 'Focal', a Swiss foundation for training professionals (mostly freelancers) in the cinema business. It was a 5 days workshop for booming - starting with some exercises with a flashlight mounted on the pole instead of a mic and ended with the production of a few very tricky film scenes... In the end everyone has learned at least this: practice is everything! http://www.focal.ch/E/

The SD 744T is an excellent and sturdy recorder. Together with a 302 mixer it worked for me over years and can do its job for several years more. On the other hand calculating an investment into this recorder in relation of the price per channel, the 744T costs twice of a 788T which has much more features. Meanwhile I would invest in a 788T instead of its old brother ...this makes the 744T not very attractive even you buy a used machine. (Have my 788T/CL8 for 2 yrs now.) Zaxcom has now a good and more 'modern' alternative to the 744. Anyway - regarding reliability and customer support I would give SoundDevices my preference over Zaxcom.
