  1. Yeah, I bought the B5D and returned it. It cut too much of the HF for my taste.
  2. Here's one of the tests that I've been doing with it. Movo TEST | Indoors | On and Off | Schoeps CMC1/41 + Cut-1 I typically use this mic naked, as the included foam and also the BBG both affect the HF too much for my taste. In that test, I was shocked how transparent the Movo was.
  3. It does look like it. But I've never tried a Super Softie, so I can't speak to that comparison, personally. All I know is that this little thing is a beast and it's way more transparent than the BBG, which was very surprising to me. It's actually hard to tell when it's on and when it's off. For $20, everyone should have one, even as a back-up for the SuperSoftie, no? (I do not own or have any part of that company. 🙂 )
  4. Guys, I discovered a gem on YouTube. Check out the tests from David Harry. It's the Movo WST80. I just bought one... It's less than $20! I figured I'll just return it for a full refund if it's not effective. BUT IT IS. There are three elements here that I really like a lot. 1. The cost. 2. The transparency is 2nd to none! 3. Rycote's Windjammer for the BBG fits on it rather nicely if and when the winds pick up ( if you're using the 50 or CMC641 or CMC141 outside.) I'm selling my BBG!!! The Movo is more transparent and just as effective.
  5. I did an A/B test with my CMC6 and the new CMC1. I figured I'd return the CMC1 if the sound was the same. It wasn't. I put my CMC6 up for sale immediately. To my ears, the CMC1 had a more clean and clear quality to it (hard to describe, actually.) The higher SPL really does make a significant difference. I now use it with Cut-1 and I haven't looked back! This new little unit is AMAZING!!! And by the way...this Movo WST80 Windshield is VERY transparent and is quite effective.
  6. Maybe use a Cut-1 or Cut-60? It might help to have the LF cut at mic level instead of the mixer, no?
  7. Yeah, me too.. I switched to the ATH-M50x (with velour ear pads). Love 'em!
  8. Hhmmm. Yeah, something's wrong indeed. 🤔
  9. The 6061 that I bought terminated with a MicroDot connecter and I'm using the DPA MicroDot to XLR adapter (DAD6001) going direct to my SD MixPre3 recorder. (The frequency response on that cheap Movo mic is 35 Hz-18 kHz.)
  10. Wow. Your post further proves to me that I got a dud. If the one that I got was cut with the booms we all use... Ha! DPA would be mortified. Have a listen
  11. Damn, I must have received a bad copy. Mine sounds horrible. Muffled, no HF at all. I'm returning it today.
  12. Thanks, AudioFP. Very helpful! I'm going to try this.
  13. So my 50 was entered into the system yesterday: "The technician will send you an estimate via email when he's reviewed the repair." What's your experience with this, as far as cost for out-of-warranty repairs go? I just want to get a general sense of how much you guys have paid in the past. Thanks.
  14. Oh I didn't know that. Well, in the meantime I'm using my 416 in a fairly dead room, so I'll be fine until the 50 comes back. Now I know to not expect a speedy transaction. Thanks!
  15. Yes, it's strange that it would just stop working. VERY unexpected. GREAT to know. Thanks, Jon.
  16. Hey guys. I've had my MKH50 for a few years (since 2013). It's been used primarily booming above stationary subjects for interiors. VERY rarely have I used it outdoors. I've taken VERY good care of it. But it just stopped working for some odd reason. Wasn't the cable, as I tried the same cable with my 416 and it works without a problem. Sent it back to Sennheiser USA over 15 days ago and there's been no update from them. Last week, I sent an email inquiry and they said that it hasn't been processed yet. Strange....BUT....I was just curious to know if this is typical of your own experience, sending in your gear for repair or replacement. Thanks. Paul
  17. I use my 50 for both interiors and exteriors (with a BBG + INV7). (Someone here mentioned that the BBG actually reduced room tone a bit and so I did my own tests and I actually found that to be the case! Since then, the BBG lives on it all the time.)
  18. Oh absolutely! That's definitely on my list. But in the interim, for run & gun on camera, I find the MKE 600 is not bad at all.
  19. Here's an exterior test I shot with the MKE 600 on camera. MKE600 + MZH600 furry
  20. Here's a sample of the 50 in low to moderate wind with the BBG + Furry. This clip is from the raw footage, with no post-processing. MKH50_BBG_Furry.mp4
  21. Well...I did just that, recently. (I typically use the 50+BBG with no furry in an INV-6 on a boom pole for indoor interviews, auditions etc. But for use in an outdoor + boom op scenario, the INV-6 was way too flimsy and the bald BBG couldn't quite handle more than no to low wind.) The INV-7HGMKiii was rock solid and Rycote's Windjammer on the BBG handled the wind just beautifully. So far, this seems like an excellent alternative to the WS2 if budget is an issue.
