  1. Warning to 688 owners if you've bought the machine before v2.1 firmware be aware that when the firmware trial period runs out as mine did today my machine wouldn't drop into record , a message comes up on the recorder saying please download latest firmware it was nearly very embarrassing luckily I was near Wifi and was able to upgrade before the client was aware but I must question the practice of blocking the recorder from working, hoping this doesn't happen in future updates Best Giancarlo
  2. Is anyone using terradek cube, with iOS devices I'd like the option to use it with the movie slate app on doco shoots or lightweight bag rigs, do I need a composite and Sadi version to cover all instances etc I was also wondering if the latency, connectivity issues are any better than when the system was first announced a few years back , which model are people thinking is the most versatile or are there better alternatives many thanks in advance Giancarlo Dellapina AMPS
  3. reloaded the file structure ram it through zaxconvert and hey presto all there, thanks again to everyone but a BIG THANK YOU to Richard
  4. i cannot see the files in zaxconvert or on the card itself thru a card reader ...
  5. ok so apologies it 3 am here in Borneo , yes i am using zaxconvert for mac which works fine , and i have now tried another card and i have duly named the trx , I've recorder three files which are visible, and they also run thru zaxconvert and are all ok, so I'm confident for tomorrow .. i just need some advice on how i search for these hidden files on yesterdays card,as i said before its showing 22 hrs used and they play back through the rx into my recorder on PFL... has anyone recovered hidden files from a trx 900, btw the card is a tried and trusted transcend sd hc
  6. i do have enough cards , could the files just be hidden and if so why and how do is top this a colleague and good authority on zaxcom richard miller suggested it could be possibly because i have not named the transmitter in the extended menu I'm going to do that right now and see if another card mounts and works on zaxconvert if so I'm getting closer to stopping this happening again, just worried about how to get those files off the card now G
  7. Hi to the group, I'm wondering if you would be so kind as to shed some light on my problem, I'm in Borneo working on a 3D project with Sir David Attenborough and production requested I use a zaxcom radio and to have a daily backup of true files he's fully aware of this and this is fine, my problem is i tested the system before he arrived all files were showing on the trx 900 and playing back from the trx, Cut to first day of shoot i format the card in the trx check its on non loop record and away we go playback from try reassures me we are fine or so i thought... today and yesterday the same card is now showing 22 hrs used but when i mount it directly onto my macbook air i only see one folder saying delete me with 542 kb used so put card back in trx , playback fine, i must admit i usually use my zaxcom as a camera hop so i may be doing something stupid, another point i also have two versions of zaxconvert 6.11 3 and 6.17 MAC i feel I'm missing something really obvious here... thanks in advance for any help you can give.... Best Giancarlo
  8. Maybe worth taking 4 x ZFR Zaxcom recorders as well for your walk and talk wouldn't hurt ..... Giancarlo
  9. I worked with a carrier battle group on alert in the gulf in 98 we were lucky enough to film on most elements of the group over a period of two months I had a basic kit back then of TC portadat, sqn4, 416, stereo schoeps rig, and 2 x 2020 audio ltd radios on freq 854-863 MHz shooting on super16, vessels worked on were two carriers the USS Independence and the USS John C. Stennis. various guided missile cruisers and frigates the dodo was for PBS NOVA called On Alert In The Gulf when on deck I had the usual radar zip on both cabled mics to varying degrees I had some success reducing this by shielding cables and recorder bag and varying my position for Wildtrack's underneath the tower in the shadow was ok depending on time of day, The programme was part observational documentary so the lifesavers for me were my Audio ltd 2020 radios which remained largely unaffected during the shoot, even when on our chosen fighter pilot walking around on the flight deck during Air Ops Re recorder problems on one occasion during a maritime interdiction raid when we had boarded a vessel smuggling Iraqi Dates we found during an interview my portadat kept switching off this was cured by asking our Frigate alongside to sector off it's radar, Thoroughly amazing time was had by all hope you get to be up top during air ops.... one hits the deck every minute , and I hope you get a chance to feel the steam catapults on the COD taxi plane (the pilots call it the tube of shame) as its the least glamorous plane onboard, it was exciting enough I assure... If I were to get an opportunity to do the shoot again I would be certainly taking old school mechanical backup like Nagra , your 411s have a fearsome reputation but are only one Rx as they use Aerial switching maybe an alternative brand might be good good Audio ltd new en2 dual Rx has a large switching bandwidth and its a true 4 Receiver dual diversity design as is Wisycom System both very impressive systems I would also wrap all gear in Swiis shield RF absorption cloth and take some dynamic mic backups Kindest regards to the group Giancarlo
  10. Currently using auto mix v2.19 on the uk Apprentice series I,m pretty happy with it as an option. Last week I left the 7 on automix in a room discussion and boom on separate track as it was quite a long brainstorming session I had the chance to compare on/ off it was definitely cleaning up the feed to camera, I haven't yet been tempted to use it on a multimic drama scene, But there is the odd occasion one rehearsal and go or possibility of ad libs where I might try it if I'm not confident after the first rehearsal...

  12. Good day folks, I'm currently working on a F1 Doco about the legendary driver Ayrton Senna and I would greatly appreciate the groups help. We need to know if there is anyone who has any quality archive recordings of INTERIOR F1 cars, preferably 1988 Honda engined Mclaren with a view to possibly being used to add dramatic impact to driving sequences in the film. I was recently allowed the great privalige of recording his original 1988 MP4/4 at Silverstone circuit recently I managed to get some great surround FX but sadly as they were protecting the car for the Goodwood Historic Festival of Speed this weekend we only got a few blasts (3 gears) up and down a short straight. currently renegotiating a bigger recording day just for the film !!! The sequences in the film could be Monaco 88 qualifying,Japan And Brazil. please contact me off list. any leads or info welcome. Warmest regards to the group Giancarlo Dellapina AMPS +447785572229
