  1. Hi folks In need of some assistance. Recently purchased a 664 with an Orca OR-32 bag. For the life of me I can't figure out how it fits into this bag. I've tried all sorts of configurations til my fingers were literally bleeding. That velcro is a harsh mistress. If it sits level with the bag like the image below, I can't get access to my SD card from the side because of the frame. But if it sits at the bottom of the bag, it makes it rather difficult to access the trims and HPFs. Also, does anyone use the lifts. If so, how do you get them into place. All the velcro makes it really difficult to move the bag parts around. Calling any Orca OR-32 664 users out there. I could really use your experience and valuable knowledge. Many thanks Alan
  2. Hello guys, I ran into an issue with the SD 664 on set. I used the BDS4v to power a SRb and a 664 and ran into an issue with the 664 powering on and off randomly. At first I thought a cable might be loose so I checked everything to make sure nothing was loose and made sure to turn everything back off and on. At first the 664 kept cycling on and off until it suddenly stopped and stayed on. It worked for a bit and then it happened again. I then decided to change all the cables connected to the BDS and even swapped batteries. It seemed fine for 2 hours and then it starting doing it again. The BDS4v light never went out and the SRb never lost power either, only the 664 would lose power and cycle on and off. I'm hoping its not a 664 issue but I have contacted Sound Devices. I'm just curious if anyone else has run into a similar issue. .
  3. I have an Audio Ltd. 1010 here for eval. The receiver has a switchable output; analog or AES. I must thank Sound Devices for thinking to put AES (3 and 42) inputs on my 664 mixer recorder.
  4. Hi everyone. I just bought a Sound Devices 664. Im going to use it with 2x Sennheiser 416 + 4 Sennheiser G3 with OST TL40. Im looking for a reliable but not very expensive way to power the 664. Im not going to power anything else besides the 664 in my Petrol PS603 bag (the Sennheiser G3 run on AA bat). Any advice for reliable batteries to buy in Europe and reliable adaptor to connect them to 664 will be great and help me in the decision. Thanks.
  5. As some of you are already aware Orca Bags debuted our new line of audio bags and harness at NAB this year. We got a very positive response to our products and lots of good feedback at the show. We are currently incorporating that feedback and suggestions into our audio bags to make them even better and more tailored to you, the end user. The Orca sound bags are like no other bag that you have seen. The Orca offers maximum protection for your gear inside thanks to our extremely durable and lightweight aluminum and honeycomb frame. Added to that is an ethylene-vinyl acetate interior and layers of foam lined with ultra-soft blue brushed polyester. The frame was specifically designed to allow all four sides of the bag and the bottom too independently and completely open. This gives you access from all six sided of the bag. No other bag will give you unencumbered access like the Orca will. Imagine never having to pull anything out of your bag to get to the connectors and media slots on your mixer, recorders and wireless ever again. Our “Orca Lift” system allows you to position the mixer to any level within the bag while our sliding mount securely holds the mixer in place. The bag can be turned completely upside down and the mixer will remain fastened in place with no Velcro or other fasterners. Each bag has two large pockets that can be used for placing your battery, BDS and/or stowing all your accessories. On the front two bungee cords with tensioners are available for attaching your boom pole or for hanging cables on your bag. The carrying handles and shoulder strap are easily removable for your convince. Four external detachable pockets with a special twist locking mechanism are supplied as well. The Orca bags are available in three different sizes to accommodate all current field mixers and recorders. Orca was created to provide the best, customized bags and accessories for today’s working broadcast and cinema professionals worldwide. 6. Hey Gentlemen, Just took delivery on a 664. Now kitting up. Curious who's happy and who's not with the bag you purchased to house this bad boy and why? Background: Mostly cart guy, commercials. However, to keep 664 off the shelve I may have to shoulder 664 and at least 4 radios. Jump from 744T/442 Petrol. Appreciate your comments and insight. South Florida no audio houses, would be nice to shop, kick the tires and check under the hood before I buy blindly via 'pretty' jpgs. Have closet full of internet mistakes I'm too lazy to return. Constant lurker. Best, Dean Gudmundson South Florida
  7. The thumb nail makes us both look like we've been Sleepless In Vegas for three or four days, very funny!
  8. So I -and at least 49 other souls, apparently- have signed up to attend the espresso-fueled 664 workshop, hosted by Location Sound. Since I missed the beer swilling gathering a few weeks ago, I figured I'd ask who here will be attending as well, so we can make it a mini-meet, maybe with a visit to the local Starbucks for further discussion. I'll be wearing my "Accept no subs" t-shirt... What say you?
