  1. Hi I've noticed that when I mark the same take twice, the mirror folder only shows one. For example, I roll on S1T1 and mark it. And then I roll S1T1 again and mark it again. When I do that, it only shows one S1T1X in the mirror folder. There should obviously be 2 marked takes in the folder. In fact the primary folder shows 2 marked takes. Has anyone encountered this issue? And how did you solve it?
  2. Hello to all of you @JWSOUND It's good to finally be here. I have a question regarding Zaxcom Maxx recorder issue. I've already contacted Zaxcom and Ambient regarding the issue and the good people from Ambient told me that i can send Maxx for service/repair but i should also ask the question here as the nature of issues I'm going through is really weird. Never explained issue to Zaxcom, just asked about the possibility of service in Europe. I'll try to describe the issue the best i can. The other day i ran out of batteries (hawk woods np50) during recording session. At the moment i wasn't close to the recorder but when i came back, red battery symbol was flashing, channel selection and level values were 'jumping' from low to high randomly from 2 -3 -4 channel. At the same time channel 1 was stuck on +17dB (checked value in setup) and only allowing value ie level to be increased. At the same time rotating knob clock wise and adding gain resulted in adding Voltage percentage on battery indicator icon. So at some point it went from 12.5 V and 'low battery warning' to 19 or 20V icon value. All the time ch levels and led indicators were running mad. Very strange indeed. Those are new Hawk Woods batteries, used, tried and tested. I borrowed few ext bat from a colleague and also tried AA power option. Same thing, just numbers were different. I was in post fader mode. When in pre fade mode i can trim up and down gain altho channels are still randomly switched, and voltage indicator is running wild. I have tried to re-instal firmware few times, to reset the machine, stop button pressing when powering up..everything. No success. Havent tried the inputs after this episode because i didn't want to risk possible phantom issues with microphones, but in headphones when turned up, 3rd channel has noise level that is higher than noise level on 1st,2nd and 4th ch. Any info or input on the matter would be highly appreciated. Thank you. Nikola maxx2.3gp maxx3.3gp
  3. A dangerous practice as noted in the Zaxcom Maxx Manual. Please be careful out there.
  4. I'm embarking on a month-long shoot that will take me across the country (twice). Having switched to the Maxx a few months ago, and being vocal about it on here, I'm setting up this thread as a blog of my travels, packing light while sound recording, and running the Maxx for a month straight. Due to the nature of the work I'll be running the recorder for upwards of 12-16 hours a day. I took advantage of the new 2.0 software and made a TA5 to dual XLR cable for the return to act as additional inputs (hardware inputs 5/6). I'll be running a boom and four Sennheiser G3's. I know I know, Sennheisers, but they are what I have to work with and I'll be upgrading to Lectros when I return. Which, if anyone has some 211's in blocks 19-21 for a modest price, I'd love to talk with you in early February. The Maxx is great on batteries, but I'm bringing 3 NP-1's just in case I'm crunched for charging time. Plus some backups Powerex's in the device. And about 40 more AA Nimh's for the G3's. I crammed all of my gear, clothing, and expendables for the month into a Pelican 1650, a Boreas Erawan 50 backpack/duffel, and a K-Tek KBLT35 boom pole case. The K-Tek case is holding my Klassic boom pole, 416 in blimp, and a Tascam DR-40 to use as a plant mic. Thank god for packing cubes. I fly out tomorrow. I'll start posting from the road this weekend. I'm excited to push the Maxx this next month and document how my gear weathers the storm.
  5. Hi! I just order a Zaxcom Maxx and I thinking about the battery system for it. I had thought in a Sony NPF battery system and Hawk-Woods adapter. It would be: -Hawk-woods DV-SQN2S (12V) (with the possibility of power too a Lectrosonics receiver) -2x Sony NPF-970 6600mAh 7.2V I have doubts about which could be the duration of each battery (run time) with Maxx? Typical configuration, 1 channel phantom power and 4 channel recording. Sorry by my English! Thanks!!
  6. As some of you are already aware Orca Bags debuted our new line of audio bags and harness at NAB this year. We got a very positive response to our products and lots of good feedback at the show.
