  1. The company I work for does a lot of international filming and we have small offices spread around the world and we recently sent a team to the Philippines and hired a local sound team. Unfortunately their work was less than satisfactory. We are traveling again in the coming months and we want to see what the other options are for a sound mixer locally before bringing a mixer from the states. The work is documentary in nature. They will fly into Manila and then to Tacloban to film. We want to find out who is available and what the going rate is in the Philippines. Please PM me if you are locally available or know someone who is local and able to deliver a satisfactory product for our filming. Thanks Ryan P
  2. Hi All, In these days of international money transfers combined with easy electronic transfers, I'm curious what the best way you have found to get paid by clients in other countries. I'm sure we've all been bitten by various payment schemes that had hidden costs, and was curious what was working well for people. ie, Paypal seems to have a 2.9% charge between US and Canada. ie I sent a payment to Germany for something recently and used a bank draft, and paid a significant amount for it, and then had the receiving bank take a similar amount off the back end without any warning, leaving the amount significantly short! (and the vendor I was dealing with somewhat miffed...) Anyway, looking specifically for the best way to receive a payment Germany to Canada, Euros to CAD, but it can turn into a more general discussion thread if it happens that way. Cheers, Brent Calkin
  3. Been working nearly exclusively within the state of MN for the past few years and would like to get out and travel. Don't need a big paycheck and am, in fact, open to pro-bono for the right gig. Narrative, documentary, TV, it's all good. I hit up Mandy.com frequently, but usually just find student projects or two-day shorts. Any suggestions? Resources?
