  1. Hi! My name is Nathan Romer, a sound assistant/boom operator (and beginner mixer) based in the Lower Mainland. I'm looking for opportunities to learn and grow as a sound professional. Working with audio is something I've been passionate about my whole life. However, it's more than just sound that I want to expand on. Critical decision making skills, client interactions, and problem solving on set are areas that I want to flourish in on top of audio. I've worked on corporate interviews, short films, webseries, features and commercials. If you're interested in growing your team, or just letting me tag along on a shoot, don't hesitate to contact me! My email is nathanaaronromer@gmail.com Apologies if this is an inappropriate place to post. Thanks for reading! And thank you to everyone for sharing the wealth of knowledge on this forum. Hope to see you on set someday! Nathan Romer
  2. I'm starting a new video chat series with audio professionals, and this is my first one. Thanks to Jan McLaughlin for taking the time out of her busy day to sit down with me via video chat.

  4. I don't have done a project with high amount of production sound effects like rifle guns, explosions etc. I am always curious about the collaboration between production sound department and post production sound department for this. Not only for feature films, but also for television series which the time for editing, mixing etc it's more tight.

  6. I just saw Les Misérables and it was phenominal. I congratulate Simon Hayes (AMPS) and his sound team for the amazing production sound in the movie, without which the brillant performaces and music heard in the movie would not be possible. Congratulations of course go to all involved in making the film, but the sound team deserves special praise to what they gave to that movie! If you work in production sound, you definitely need to see the movie
  7. Was wondering what everybody's methods were. I have the boom rain guard, and the cover for my petrol bag and I wrapped the boom in plastic for the connections, being extra careful to not have much plastic bag noise. I know trew has a whole cover guard. But I always wonder what other people's methods are, and I always see on big shows they have rain towers and everything and people just get drenched. What does everyone do to keep the gear dry?
  8. Hello! I had a question. I'm on a UCLA shoot and they have these lavs and I really like them, I've attached a picture, the wind screen doesn't come off as their cage glued them on. But the element is very small and it has a mechanism that can be put on a sennheiser g3. Any ideas as to what it is? I want to say it's a countryman but I'm not sure.
