  1. Hi everyone, I have spent a bit of time searching the forum for an answer to this question, but I have not been able to find any related threads. If this topic has been covered, please direct me to the right page. Thanks. I am a bit new to production sound, but have been trying to refine my techniques and knowledge on as many topics as possible. I rarely seem to have trouble concealing lavs on talent, with the exception of wiring people in business suits. It seems that no matter where I hide the mic (in the tie, in the dress shirt, under the lappelle, in the collar), and with any mounting options (hush lavs, RM-11. vampire clips, moleskin, overcovers/ undercovers, topstick, snot tape), nothing seems to work. All I get is constant clothing friction noise. Hopefully some of you would be nice enough to offer some useful tips & tricks to guide a newbie like me in the right direction? Please be kind. Thanks ahead of time.
  2. So many folks throw out the phrase "Feature" or "Feature Film", perhaps we can offer some varying insights into what exactly is a "feature film"... BTW, I consider the proper term to be "feature length movie", as mostly they are not actually on light sensitive, chemical emulsion traditional film, and most never get featured anywhere besides you-tube. We folks keep hearing about a "student feature", a "first feature" and so many other variations, and it seems movie makers particularly love the term, but many of our production sound mixers like to include the term for what are frequently very low budget low quality projects that no one ever hears of. <have I struck some nerves yet?> so isw it the length that makes it "a feature", or should it be about the budget level, or other factors?? (BTW, I also use the expressions "POS" to describe these many lo/no budget, first timer, wanna-bee, projects, often the producer-director-writer-star-editor and even DP are all one person. OK: fire away
