Hey soundies, I recently had my apartment broken into in Astoria Queens. They stole my Canon 7D camera, and aKAI keyboard, and my entire 788 sound rig with lectrosonics, comteks, smart slate and everything else in the bag.... This was in astoria, queens New York.... If Anybody knows of any gear someone is selling for very cheap or seems shady please let me know... Cheers
Like lots of recordists, I struggle when micing up people wearing shirts. Avoiding scratching and rustling can be really difficult. I'm a big fan of the "hide in plain sight" method using a Countryman B6 through a button hole, but find the sound of the mic itself a bit hit and miss. I've been trying to figure out a way to do the same with a Cos11. Simply poking it straight up doesn't work too well and the angle created makes the rear of the head stick out into the chest. I tried using a cut up piece of a right angled straw today and it worked surprisingly well. Seems to create a bit of a peak in the upper-mid frequencies but nothing too drastic. It's worth it to negate the scratching anyway. Best thing is the mic head stays straight up and can be taped unobtrusively on to the inside of the shirt using moleskin or similar. You can even poke some bits of fabric into the front of the straw for some wind protection.
Hi, Does anyone know if it's possible to get hold of DPA microdot connectors? And if so, would it be possible to wire them to a Sanken Cos 11? I'd like to have a little flexibility with my lav mics. I have used DPA mics, although it was a good few years ago. I seem to remember the microdot connectors being comparable to SMA connectors, i.e. just a screw in pin and screen connection. My memory could be failing me here but if that's right then how would the Sanken's three wires connect into the microdot? I've read a little about a similar connector that Rode are now using but as far as I know they don't do a 6 pin Lemo connector, which I need to fit to my Audio Ltd tx. Any ideas?
