Help with a BNC connector

I'm assembling a few cables and I can't figure out how the circular backing plate goes on the BNC connector. It's just the little plate to close off the opening. It doesn't screw in, I can't get it to pop in and lock, and it doesn't appear to be crimped, soldered, or pounded into place. Any ideas as to how it goes in?

I'll post a photo I snapped with my phone.

L-Com didn't say much on Saturday, February 4th when I was making the cables and had a question about the connector. I suppose I could have waited until Monday, but I had a gig all day long...same for Tuesday.

Damn...I wish there was another source of information other than the reseller of a product...if only there was a knowledge base somewhere I could pose a question to knowlegable people in a similar line of work who may have previously come across the same issue...
