MatthewFreedAudio
I'm assembling a few cables and I can't figure out how the circular backing plate goes on the BNC connector. It's just the little plate to close off the opening. It doesn't screw in, I can't get it to pop in and lock, and it doesn't appear to be crimped, soldered, or pounded into place. Any ideas as to how it goes in? I'll post a photo I snapped with my phone. www.matthewfreed.com Production Sound Mixing for TV, Films, and Commercials
S Harber
I've never seen that and I've crimped a lot of BNC in my time. Is it from a BNC terminator?
Jay Rose
Gaffer tape.
Audio Daddyo
Of course Duct Tape!! Or possibly it was glued in. Do you see any adhesive residue?
MatthewFreedAudio
There is no adhesive on them. These are new connectors from L-com. I bought 20 of them and they are all the same. I'm wondering if I received a bad batch?
r.paterson
Hello I have made up a few of these connectors you are meant to give it a small tap with a hammer and punch..Richard
MatthewFreedAudio
The hammer and punch thing occurred to me as a possible solution but I was hesitant to start whacking away on the connector. I'll give it a shot!
studiomprd
What does L-Com have to say?
MatthewFreedAudio
L-Com didn't say much on Saturday, February 4th when I was making the cables and had a question about the connector. I suppose I could have waited until Monday, but I had a gig all day long...same for Tuesday. Damn...I wish there was another source of information other than the reseller of a product...if only there was a knowledge base somewhere I could pose a question to knowlegable people in a similar line of work who may have previously come across the same issue... www.matthewfreed.com Production Sound Mixing for TV, Films, and Commercials
