Yeah I ditched my SNA's years ago as they were just too much of a hassle for bags (at least with my setup at the time).  Was going to upgrade to an 833 SL2 bowtie combo before COVID hit but that's been put on the back burner for now, sadly.  Here's hoping for a 4 channel SRd in the near future though.

Yeah I feel that. I have a 688 and an 633, I’m thinking about going 888 with 2 D2’s and just have one kit.

And here's the poor man's bag. ;)

Mixpre 10 ii with five Sony uwp-d inside the heavy orca bag.

They have to stick out a little for infrared-frequency-sync on the side of the receiver with the transmitter.

The receivers are powered by a simple Powerbank via Micro USB, which has worked so far. The mixpre has the adapter for two np-f batteries.

And an Ultrasync One inside the bag for tc sync.

As a backup unit I also have a simple rode wireless go with a Sennheiser lav, just in case.

Bored and little no job for the pass   few months! Rejoining the club of audio bag horing. I can post more audio porn pictures if you like 😂😂 starting to doubt that I’ll be able to move all of these equipments and more via check in luggage from Singapore to Canada when we migrate this October 😅20D32A14-DD56-4944-861E-F0C197E5BAFD.jpeg1CC10852-A9DB-4AAB-A5F4-4BB2F48F373D.jpegE2E609E9-D47C-44E4-8C7F-9BD7AC8D3503.jpeg22A3FC60-AA17-4363-985A-55F629B62948.jpeg48D813D8-F1CE-4DF2-89D8-1D6F114A3CAC.jpeg20D32A14-DD56-4944-861E-F0C197E5BAFD.jpeg

Nice watch! How do you transmit to it?

it’s an fpv tx being diy where the AV cables are soldered to the pcb board of the AV to sdi converter, its powered from via USB for the converter but you need to have a buck converter that converts 5v to 12v for the tx which I place it inside the converter box. It’s mainly for my boom Operators, where I get the feed trough one of my many wireless system eg: paralinx, R2teck it hollyland depending on my mood for the project 😂 and use the sdi tru from my monitor to a decimator that splits the screen and from there, sends the feed out to my fpv tx sdi input

Awesome. Thoose FPV items seems really cheap tbh. Are they frequently agile? If you would only run one cam. Could you in theory transmit with the FPV antenna from video village to both the boomop and a FPV monitor at the cart?

Yes you can! All fpv system was my previous setup for my bigger cart, but it’s because it’s staticky though so i moved on to using hollyland for video village playback for a better audio playback for clients on my g3 iems as I feed them the return Audio feed from my video monitor.  For the staticky none critical use fpv system I pass it to my boom ops for them not to bug the ACs or camera departments monitor to much 😅

I bought two of them! Don’t know aNyone else who has one but I love them. They have out performed my qrx200 on many occasions believe it or not. I really like the slot format. Bummed they won’t make another slot RX.

Dig the Boscam too. Gives me ideas to mod an apple webcam to transmit to my wrist-watch-monitor?

I have some wifi solutions mostly for my boom ops and also the video village as a secondary hop. From the sound mixer's POV, I would rather let my boom ops be ears than my eyes. In other words, I like my boom ops to listen hard thru their cans first, and then look at the monitor. I have found that, it usuallly distracts them from micro booming. I wud rather have them talk to me over IFB thru IEM first, if they could raise the boom. I have a larger aspect ratio on my monitors, a wireless hop from camera, with overscan on all the time. I give them a warning when boom is too close to the active frame. Much better booming and sound that way, as then can ride the frame much closely. We have some great ninjas over here who take it to a level of art. Two booms? Even sweeter... I don't care so much the camera dept is getting ticked off, esp the shot is unnecessarily wide. I bribe the DP with cans of beer, the beer can being the measure from the top of the frame. So it all boils down to how many cans of beer he or she want was EOD, HA Ha ha... Has worked flawlessly in many a features.

If I had to invest in Camera Link that will be:

- SRX220
- TRX743

Not sure why Zaxcom has decided to discontinued SRX220, but it is a cool piece of hardware.

Glenn said they felt too limited by the format. I find mine lovely. I mostly use it as boom RX (I use a ZMT Phantom for boom) but have used it as a hop and it works great!

Are you changing out the 633 for a 10 II?
As I count 13 channels of wireless!
Not even the 10 II can handle that.

633 with the mixpre 10 II. add up to a 14 channel system. two plug on will go through the sonosax m32

What is your line of work, that you need 14 wireless in a bag, vs. the conventional, more relaxed way, of a cart with the optional mixer board, real estate, etc.?

Seriously... 14? Oof.
If I need more than ~8 in a bag I’ll use a 2nd bag— and a 2nd Sound Mixer.

Cheers,

Evan

Am curious what you're recording with all these channels of wireless, a reality tv show? Are you carrying that bag all day, or have it sitting down somewhere the majority of the time?

My bag is:

recorder

boom and 8 wireless,

stereo hop Ifb

Battery -

- around 5 pounds. I can wear that all day everywhere all the time.

Ok. Here is the truth:

I have handled 12 wireless a few times in my carrier and it worked just  fine.

We are mixing for Ifb and production uses our ISOS. Not the hardest thing in the world.

I have asked for second mixers and when I got them it was fine but most of the time producers are willing to risk it which puts me in a difficult situation to push myself and get it done.

And honestly all thanks to zaxcom. I can not imagine being able to do it with the other gear. To many unknown and to many runing around changing freqs with a stupid anoying sound while interrupting the shoot. Thanks to zaxnet. Not to mention intermod Bullshit that I have been clear of since 2012.

Actually I thin I need a t-shirt saying:

RF Intermod Bullshit free since 2012

🙂

P.S. I have mixed 24 channels more then a few times. Its fine. Especially when you come from mixing music.
