Barry OSullivan
I've been trying to back up the internal hard drive from a Deva v to a Lacie external firewire hard drive, but the Deva keeps giving a firewire error message. I have found out that apparently the deva will not communicate with the latest firmware version in the lacie so it seems I need to downgrade the firmware. The problem is the only program I could get to do this is a PC program which I cannot get to work. It won't recognise the drive when connected to the USB port (on the PC) and windows XP keeps asking for a driver when I connect the Lacie hard drive via the firewire port (again on the PC), everything I can find out about lacie hard drives says that no driver is needed or available for these drives. I'm using a Lacie D2 Quadra external hard drive. Has anyone else come across this problem, or got any suggestions???
FSBELLA
Barry, it could be as simple as the following: after connecting the lacie hd, turn the deva off then turn back on. when ever anyone connects a external hard drive, you must turn the deva off & on in order for the deva to recognize the drive. also, did you format the drive? hope that helps, if not call or email coffeysound. Barry OSullivan
Hi FSBella, I have tried switching the machine on and off but it still won't recognise the drive, also, I've been unable to fromat it, again the deva won't recognise it as a mirror drive. Thanks though. I've been trying to back up the internal hard drive from a Deva v to a Lacie external firewire hard drive, but the Deva keeps giving a firewire error message. dfisk
I had the same issue with my LaCie pocket drive (now discontinued and replaced with the rugged drive). It's a bus powered firewire drive. The first time I went to use it with the Deva, the Deva wouldn't see it. I formatted it with a Mac, and never had an issue since. I should also state that I only use this drive with the Deva, and nothing else. I have another bus powered firewire drive that I use for transferring things quickly. Thanks Everybody but unfortunately none of those things worked. It does seem to be a Lacie firmware and Deva issue. Further investigation is happening.
