DIY breakaway improvement.

Took out the two headphone/return wires from the camera site.

Put a Mogami quad in their place. Split the quad in to two wires.

Secured the solder connection part with plenty of zip ties.

Used high quality headphone male and female plugs.

I was sick of repairing my breakaway any other week. I hope this would work a long time. I especially like the use of quad for headphone and return instead of the 2 shitty cables remote audio use.

Nice work, but will you post back if your modifications ever fail? My RA cables have been rock solid for several years. Me thinks the problem may be with the type of human using the camera end.

4 different Remote Audio BreakAways broke where the headphone and camera return cables are soldered on the camera end.

The connection is not secured well out of the factory.

Hey Rado,

Have you ever heard of Sugru? It may help out with securing cables and adding strain reliefs. It's basically a self-curing pliable rubber that is electrically insulating. Really cool stuff. Feels kinda like Play-Doh and takes 24 hours to completely cure.
