ccsnd
Marc, Nice idea, but it would take more than "a minute" to re-jam two slates, two SB-3's or two Alexas in a simple camera scenario. If a third camera was in the mix, there might be a lot of complaining from an over amped A.D and Director. Caution: Do not Try this on any Michael Bay film! Plan to never delay anything ever on a Michael Bay film.
Bob Marts
Too many ugly memories of Hour 0 disasters in post for me. Earlier, I posted that I set my tc at hour "0" = call time. I should add that in recent memory, I've never rolled in the 1st hour on the features I've been working on.

Whatever happened to staggered calls? ~tt
Bondelev
I tell my students not to use zero hour because it's like holding up a sign that says I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING. It will freak out people in post even if it causes no problems.
Marc Wielage
Yes, post people are generally conditioned to go into shock if we see 00:00:00:00. Typically, that means something reset and is totally, completely wrong. In truth, as long as it's got enough pre-roll to not freak out the editing systems, it can work OK. Just against tradition. Richard Newton
It could well be a software bug (or limitation) with the Codex recorder. Crossing midnight is like "crossing the streams" in Ghostbusters: very bad! Yes but it could be worse.
