"Sad news for all audio engineers today - Al Grundy, easily the most knowledgeable man in North America on record cutting systems and the Neumann lathes in particular, and one of the main people responsible for keeping the professional vinyl record mastering systems in the USA running for the past 40 years - just passed away (from my understanding from complications from leukemia). He was 85. A true gentleman and a wealth of information - he will be missed!!!"

I work with Kurt Hulit, the guy who was pretty much his right hand man for years keeping those systems running... a sad time for him certainly as well as for vinyl audio reproduction.

RIP Al.
