cinetj
Hello everyone, I'm doing a tv series with this workflow: recording iso tracks with Nomad; sending a mono scratch track to each camera; jamming timecode from Nomad to each camera, Free Run, TOD. At first, the mono scratch tracks weren't part of the plan, but post asked me if this was possible since they preferred to edit the offline version of the show without having to sync the iso tracks from my Nomad. They said that they could sync the scratch track wit the Nomad's iso tracks very easily using timecode afterwards. I thought that they would use somekind of conform plug in on a Final Cut like Pyramix's re-conform tool but the head at post told me that they planned to do it manually and that he doesn't know any other way of doing it. Therefore, I ask: 1- wouldn't be simpler to do all the synching right away?!!; 2- There isn't really another way with Final Cut? You can't conform automatically audio and video clips that share the same timecode?
Max Hirtenstein
i just asked some editors i know about this and they said they do it manually, or use pluraleyes, i was shocked! i believe it is possible using an AVID or the plugins in this video for FCP: http://endlesspicnic.com/blog/2011/11/time-code-canon-5d/ that said i still can't believe it's not a basic feature of any video editing program. Michael McQueen
final cut pro 7 can merge clips via timecode in the bin. but manually syncing timecode is pretty simple in the timeline.
MT Groove
They can use Sync N Link http://assistedediti...om/Sync-N-Link/ This works very well especially if you have sync boxes on each camera. I have worked on a few projects where I introduced this software to the editors. They could not belive how easy it was to sync audio to video in FCP. A whole day's footage can be sync'd in about a minute.
Angelo Waldron
Jezzz. What happened to looking at the footage while syncing and making some notes. Everybody in such a hurry. Tell them it needs to be edge-coded.
