Philip Perkins
I notice that AT makes a fairly compact 2 channel RX that is designed as a camera hop. Has anyone tried this? I've never been happy with the sound of the AT mics I've heard (outside of music studios) but they seem well made. I just notice that they never come up in discussions around here or RAMPS. Sergio Sanmiguel
I remember reading a review online where it was said that s/n ratio is pretty high and range was quite not so good compared to a Zaxcom. A friend of mine owns one and says the same, but for the money is somewhat okay. I personally decided to wait for the upcoming Lectro version since already own a couple of transmitters to go with it. Sergio Sanmiguel
Heres the transcript of that review: Almost good enough, July 16, 2007 Reviewer Dan P from Los Angeles, CA Expertise: Professional sound mixer for television/film 20 of 22 people found the following review helpful. Review: I tested this with another professional sound mixer in Los Angeles, and while we were both impressed with the price we were underwhelmed with the performance. Range and noise floor were our main issues. While it is probably fine for really low budget reality stuff, weddings etc, I could not stop obsessing on the noise floor. Also the noise would pump up a little bit while transmitting/receiving. With some tweaking of output levels etc we got it running pretty quiet but by then I could not stop obsessing about the noise. Keep in mind I am used to using a Zaxcom or Lectrosonic 411 as a camera hop, so I am comparing it to systems that cost well over twice what this one does and have more powerful transmitters. But my final opinion would be that they got close but I wouldn't trust it for broadcast/film work where the sound quality would be scrutinized by post. Problems I encountered with this item: Noise floor was too much, also increased audibly while transmitting/receiving. Underpowered transmitters, receiver seemed well built but transmitters were too plastic. Previous equivalent item owned: Zaxcom Stereo link
Trackwizard
The New AT stereo rx and two separate transmitters sound better now that they have made some improvements, range is great easy to program, eq onboard, nice for 1000$ for a stereo camera hop. Output is ta3, to xlr ma, mic / input is hirose. Worth checking out!! Trackwizard
