Jon Gilbert Posted August 3, 2012 Report Posted August 3, 2012 I was being driven into Olympic park, the security guys opened the car up to search it, and as they usually do, sent a sniffer dog over, as it's quicker than opening 20+ Pelis. The dog had a quick scan of the cases, didn't seem to smell anything our of the ordinary, then pissed on my mixer bag........... Happy days. Quote
Jim Feeley Posted August 3, 2012 Report Posted August 3, 2012 Cute Sammy. Jon, this is true? Yow. Quote
Jon Gilbert Posted August 3, 2012 Author Report Posted August 3, 2012 True as I'm sitting here in my hotel room right now! Quote
Mark Vesterskov Posted August 3, 2012 Report Posted August 3, 2012 Damn. What did the dog handler say? Quote
Jon Gilbert Posted August 3, 2012 Author Report Posted August 3, 2012 He couldn't say a word, he was laughing too much! Quote
Toy Robot Posted August 3, 2012 Report Posted August 3, 2012 Was any equipment damaged or did you have a cover over it (i.e. the clear rain covers that come with some bags)? Quote
Jon Gilbert Posted August 3, 2012 Author Report Posted August 3, 2012 It was one of the stock Portabrace bags, so had the rain covers in place, no damage was done, it was only a small dog Quote
OmahaAudio Posted August 3, 2012 Report Posted August 3, 2012 The dog had a quick scan of the cases, didn't seem to smell anything our of the ordinary, then pissed on my mixer bag... Everyone's a critic. Maybe the dog heard some of your earlier work for Animal Planet and didn't like it. Quote
Jon Gilbert Posted August 3, 2012 Author Report Posted August 3, 2012 Jim, we had an agreement, don't mention that stuff, it was a low point in my career and I don't appreciate you bringing it up. Did your dog put you up to it? Quote
Chase Yeremian Posted August 3, 2012 Report Posted August 3, 2012 Everyone's a critic. Maybe the dog heard some of your earlier work for Animal Planet and didn't like it. Yeah, I remember the audio sounding a bit... Rough... I'll be leaving now. Quote
VM Posted August 3, 2012 Report Posted August 3, 2012 I just can't help it. Sorry me too ! I am happy there is no damage. Quote
Marc Wielage Posted August 4, 2012 Report Posted August 4, 2012 Oh, I can just imagine the insurance people reading that explanation on the claim... I hope there's Loss & Damage coverage on this job! Quote
BVS Posted August 4, 2012 Report Posted August 4, 2012 Lets face it....it could have been a lot worse.... Quote
Karri Posted August 4, 2012 Report Posted August 4, 2012 A friend just reported that a sound guy almost got hit by a javelin in the Olympics. That wasn't you, was it? Risky business, these Olympics! Quote
Mike Wally Posted August 4, 2012 Report Posted August 4, 2012 It's cool, the location dog decided to put an accent on my 18-day hell shoot by, of all places, deciding to take a dump RIGHT next to my sound gear...which was sitting next to g&e stuff on the lawn. http://img.viame-cdn.com/photos/39d01ce0-a9ee-012f-a035-12313933ac25/r600x600.jpg We're all standing over by the set car we're shooting at, and one of the PA's goes, "Uh...Wally!!" Fuck sound, right? Quote

old school Posted August 5, 2012 Report Posted August 5, 2012 I can't tell you how many times I've seen dogs piss on film gear. It's a dogs world after all. CrewC Quote
Zack Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 It's for reasons and stories like this that I'm very OCD about my gear when animals are present. I dare some owner to laugh about their animal pissing on my livelihood. Quote
deep owl Posted August 7, 2012 Report Posted August 7, 2012 I was on a shoot at Ed McMahon's house several years back. Ed was awesome...total pro even at 89. His dog however, seemed to really want to make sure the camera op's dr. bag was well marked. Pissed on it once, bag got moved to a different part of the yard, dog pissed on it again for good measure. Heyooooooo! Quote
staudio Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 I was doing pool coverage for the presidents visit to the San Francisco area a couple of weeks ago....had to have the dog sniff my gear each day, was praying that he didn't take a leak on it.......my mixer bag stayed pee free. sorry to hear about your mixer bag being used as a fire hydrant.
