WTB - 12Vdc DevaMate, or 12Vdc capable DVD-Drive Shell, or Someone with the Skills to modify a shell for 12vdc ...

I'm looking to add another one to my setup... the one I have (that's 12Vdc) is an original Zaxcom DVD-RAM shell

modified by Trew Audio for 4P XLR .....

Anyone got one lying around ?

Mike,

The Deva II I sold some years back is gathering dust.  The owner never did anything with it.  It has a Remote Audio DVD SCSI drive.  Those drives were voltage sensitive and I still have a Remote Audio Juicer voltage regulator if you have need.  If either interests you, let me know.  I'm sure you could have the whole Deva II package for a song.

In my shop there are 4 empty Zaxcom HD cases for Deva II from the upgrade to Deva V where I pulled the drives out.  You are welcome to them, no charge.  I've been intending to throw them away but always have a problem trashing good stuff.

My Cantar X2 arrived 2 weeks ago and I just did my first job with it.  Unbelievably well designed and extremely fast to work with.  Every time you need something, it is literally at your fingertips.  The actual cost relative to Deva was not that much greater.  The Aaton battery is $500 as is a special line output/active booster cable, but to accessorize with bag and cabling was not much different from Deva.  Wish I knew this a long time ago before I moved into Deva.  Since everyone is a Zaxcom dealer and Aaton is very selective there is alot of salesmanship misleading people.  My distributor was instrumental in negative selling Cantar because they apparently were not Aaton distributors, but all the while they were telling me what a bad investment Cantar would be I found out that they were begging Aaton for the Canadian distributorship.  When the Deva deficiencies became relevant I don't feel they stood behind their customers.  I am not too happy with those people.

Hope you're doing well.  It always sounds like you're keeping very busy.

Best regards,
