Mobilemike
Hello - I know this is slightly OT but I figured the good people here will have lots of experience with this mic. I have an ADR session tomorrow that used an MKH40 on set, and I need to match that as closely as possible. I've never actually used the 40, so I was wondering what you guys would think would match in there the best. I have easy access to: Sennheiser 416, 415, MKH50, MKH60 Neumann KMR81, KMR82 Schoeps MK41, CMIT5U Sanken CS-3e Thanks all! -Mike
RPSharman
I used to own an 8040, and it was close to my MKH50. I'd start there.
Eric Toline
The MKH 50 is your best bet as except for the slight pattern difference the MKH 40 & 50 sound just about identical. Eric
soundtrane
more than a matching mic, what you need is a GOOD room and proper mic placement to avoid any room coloration. the rest is later, with creation of appropriate reverb to be added to the dry recording. and room tone to be added accordingly.
