VM
Patrick, as we are talking about sound noises...It would VERY interesting to have a dB curve (noise/time) without and with your FanPlate. (The curve we can see on Mecasax website in only temperature/time.)
Patrick Tresch
Patrick, as we are talking about sound noises...It would VERY interesting to have a dB curve (noise/time) without and with your FanPlate. (The curve we can see on Mecasax website in only temperature/time.) Be sure I want to do all thoses tests when the prototype comes back from the feature. I've bee on the set today to see what the sound dep thinks of it. It really comes down to the cam departement if they think the heat/vent is a problem they have to solve. In this shoot, they use the FanPlate at minimum setting for rehearsal and shooting wich is not very efficient to cool down the camera. It results to a 60% cam fan for reheasal and 25% for shooting. So it makes rehearsal really noisy for the sound dep... I made some tests and saw that the cam could be lowered to 45% rehearsal and 25% for shooting if the AC takes the care to change the FanPlate speed before every take... A new job that he seems not really happy to do. 45% is not silence, but it's considerably quieter than 60%. They don't want to give me the FanPlate back to perform the dB tests, because even at lowers FanPlate setting, they see quite a difference in camera heating. As Marc pointed out, the future of Epic won't be cooler with the 6k sensor. A cooler/quieter camera would mean a new camera body design. Patrick Tresch
You could try this for the "REHEARSAL MODE" until RED does implement it in the menu. http://www.reduser.n...l=1#post1036637 And ask your beloved AC to make the setup... ;-) Pat
