BradTheSoundGuy
I got a box of free stuff today. Two 4-bay Sony BC-1WD chargers, twelve IDX NP-23dx batteries, and five Sanyo NP-1SB batteries. I've found the manual for the charger online, but can't find much documentation on the batteries. Does anyone have any experience with these Nickel-Cadmium batteries? Did I just inheret a pile of paperweights? I currently use the NP-L7S Lithium Ion's from IDX to power my kit, and am wondering if these will be servicable backups (if they have any juice in them once charged). Jack Norflus
I used those batteries pre Lithium days - IFRC they weigh about a pound more than the L7S's and don't last as long.

Rick Reineke
A cameraman buddy had almost that same set-up back in the Betacam days... and that's probably how old they are.
Crussell
I just inherited a similar pile. Same charger. I'm sure the batts are best sent to a recycling center, but could the charger be used with a more modern battery?
Marc Wielage
No, I don't believe the older NiCad/NiMH chargers will work with the Lithium batteries. In fact, I had a 3rd-party Lithium supplier on eBay warn me that if you used the old chargers, they won't automatically trip into shut-off, meaning they could try to overcharge the Lithiums to the point that they get very hot and explode. Crussell
My policy is to not have stuff explode when possible. These batteries are toast so I guess this charger is useless also.
