Tom Visser
Nagra has released 2 new radio / journalist style handheld recorders. Lino offers up to 24/96KHz and Pico tops out at 16/48Khz. Lino has an SD/SDHC slot and Pico has built in 4GB memory. Lino also advertises a mono cardioid mode, great for a potential "Zoom on a boom" application. http://www.nagraaudi...eaflet_LINO.pdf http://www.nagraaudi...let_PICO_EN.pdf
Tom Visser
I personally like the rotary pot on my Zoom H2N better than the push buttons shown here and remote support of the H2N also trumps these side/front mounted controls when used as a bag based backup recorder, Also these look very familiar... one has sort of a Marantz'ish look and the other could be Tascam based? Marc Wielage
Doh, now producers will say, "we used to have a Zoom recorder -- now we record our movies on a Nagra!"
soundtrane
no rotary pots - bummer!

engaudio
Looks like the lino is a reworked SD.. I have the Nagra SD and it sounds great, I imagine these will have the same "sound"?
soundtrane
i dont feel particularly happy with this design - seems like plastic switches, non-countersunk screws... does not have that NAGRA design look & feel at least from the photos... jrd456
I can't believe Nagra doesn't have rotary pots on the inputs----Stupid J.D.
VM
now we record our movies on a Nagra Ahahah !!!! I am sad that Nagra is behind its challengers.
Angelo Waldron
It's not Stupid. NagraSD and I assume the Lino will take unbalanced +0dBu nominal level without distortion. The level controls don't move if bumped. Build quality.. oh, right..... Zoom, Tascam are so superior.......!
studiomprd
" i dont feel particularly happy with this design - seems like plastic switches, non-countersunk screws... does not have that NAGRA design look & feel ... " but they have NAGRA prices " now producers will say,... now we record our movies on a Nagra! " not at those prices.

roundbadge
no XLR in? don't a lot of these new handheld recorders have XLR inputs?
Tom Visser
no XLR in? don't a lot of these new handheld recorders have XLR inputs? Some that do are for mainly plugging in mics to capture music rehearsals, etc. I generally connect the tape output from my field mixer and use the unbalanced mini jack input for line level backup recording of my mix, so in this case not really interested in XLR and due to short cable run, there is really no advantage to using a balanced connection. The XLR output of my mixer is of course going to camera.
Peter Mega
Anyone used or had a listen to the Lino? Opinions?
