Brian Milliken
Hi All Running 7.55 on a Deva 16, Mirroring to DVD Ram is very slow, unusable for high track counts, had to wait an hour after wrap on Friday, we were doing long takes but it was still abnormally super slow. ncg
Hi Brian Normal media or is it a new batch? Best ncg Sorry, should just ask first, have you checked all the obvious stuff?
howy
If you email me (howard@za....) I can walk you through some debug screens to see what is going on. You might also try restoring your factory defaults if you have not done so in a long time to clear out any effects that you are not using. Also we will need to see if your processor speed is set to HIGH. -howy

Brian Milliken
Same Panasonic media as usual. Processor speed set to high.
old school
When I experienced the same slow burning and some errors it was the burner that was worn out. Just guessing about your problem. CrewC
Stuart Piggott
Brian, I find the mirroring on my Deva V can be painfully slow when I have high track counts, even when using a Lexmark card reader and cf cards. Ive taken to continuous mirror record in such circumstances as the time it can take is unbearable, particularly after wrap. Curiously, the mirroring on my Nomad is lightening fast by comparison, even when recording 6 tracks. With Remote Audio selling the drive caddy, it always lead me to think that slow mirroring was always just 'one of those things' with the Deva. Maybe I'm wrong...! Jeff Wexler
Curiously, the mirroring on my Nomad is lightening fast by comparison, even when recording 6 tracks. What does the RemoteAudio Drive Caddy have to do with this? The Drive Caddy is just another method of mounting the hard drive in the Deva that makes it easier to remove the drive. I have had slow mirroring problems maybe one or two times over many, many years, and it was always due to bad media (DVD-RAM discs) or a drive on its last legs. I have replaced the optical drive twice, once in my Deva IV and once in my Deva 5.8. One of the reasons I am pleased that we have been able to make real progress switching post workflow over to solid state (CF) storage for the deliverable. Stuart Piggott
My apologies Jeff, I meant the Zaxcom HD2USB Hard drive to USB adaptor. The RA Drive Caddy is something completely different! I have switched to mirroring to CF cards, but I still experience slow mirroring. It may be I need to take my Deva in for a service
