nika paniashvili
Some time ago my 744t and 302 started to crackle and hit when moving the cable/connector on the xlr ins. Because I almost never use that kit anymore I decided to put the problem aside until I have more spare time, but recently my new mm-1 started to act the same. any idea what could it be? dust? damage? I will record some samples later but any advice from someone who experienced it would be great!
MatthewFreedAudio
More than likely something is broken.

Jack Norflus
Try cleaning your xlr connectors with a q-tip and some contact cleaner like de-oxit (spelling?). Crap builds up on the connectors over time
gpiegari
I think Jeff is looking in the right direction here. I notice some pops and crackle every few years as my boom jumper cable begins to wear on the female XLR. Glen
ProSound
Any time I am having a issue with something I always spray everything with De Oxit first. Last night during a overnight shoot my Cat5 video system crapped out all it took was two quick sprays and it was back
Eric Toline
De Oxit works wonders on cables. Cleans the corrosion off the pins so all the old sounds stuck in the cable that's making the noise can happily leave and silence reigns once again. De Oxit, the WD-40 for soundmixers. jrd456
clean it,then plug the cable in&out about ten times and bob's your uncle. J.D.
Steve Foy
If all else fails, replace the connector/s. Connectors or more specifically the pins can wear with constant plugging and unplugging and have been known to cause that crackling sound. Marc Wielage
Cleaning the pins in the connector with Q-tips and alcohol (or DeOxit) should do it. I would also try swapping out the cables.
