Philip Perkins
When someone tells me they want to shoot at "24" (or "30", anymore) I ask them to "sign here, in blood". There have been a very few shoots (that I've been on) that really did want those frame rates for some reason, but they were a lot fewer than the total number of people who told me they were shooting @ "24". videojc
Thanks for all the input. Believe it or not, I am working on a filmed interview next week. The DP will be using An Aaton and I will be running my Nomad at 25 fps Time code....The Brits ....don't you know.
Philip Perkins
25fps is SOP in a lot of the world.
rodpaul
All variants of Varican record their frame rate on a 59.94 bed which is why it likes 29.97. True 24 is used for theatrical production where it is spec'd for delivery - Sfx like real 24, and anyone going back to a film which is pretty rare these days. All real "professional" digital cinema cameras can record true 24. Not iPhones yet, but I'm sure it won't be long.
