scout72
Every couple of times I try to click on google link for jwsound when I am not on my computer that has it saved as a favorite I get redirected to an ininityads page - this has happened from more that one PC so pretty sure it is not me- just an FYI that maybe something is hacked/semi-hacked with the site. Jeff Wexler
I have no way of troubleshooting this occurrence. Google works in strange and mysterious ways. If someone were to report that going to the URL for JWSOUND was re-directing them to some other site, then I would be concerned and would seek out the professional and expert help I would need to sort it out. The best practice seems to be to enter any one of these URLs directly into the address bar of your browser (if you haven't saved it as a bookmark): jwsound.net will take you to a portal page on my website where there is a rock solid and clear link to JWSOUND; jwsoundgroup.net will take you directly to this site. If you do any sort of a Google search for the site and weird things happen on the way, I would fault Google or some erratic behavior of the browser and not the site. Again, this sort of thing is beyond my area of expertise such as it is. Sorry.
rofin
Hi Jeff, I've been experiencing this for the last 3 or 4 days as well. Not a single other instance, only jwsound, and maybe 8 out of 10 attempts result in a redirection. Usually displays something like ad.leadbbolt, then googleanalytics and ultimately something about prettyunicorn.net Rob

mlohninger
I've been experiencing this, too -- only happens when loading from google. I looked this up a bit, and people are reporting this on other IPBoard forums, too. From google, instead to jwsound, very often I get sent here: http://url4short.info/ad539e15 It appears to be IPBoard related, based on a quick look googling "url123.info hack ipboard" "url4short hijacking"

I'll delete the Google cookies and try again when I have more time. Have a nice holiday.

Jeff Wexler
It's not a Mac or PC thing, or even an anti-virus thing, it is a Google thing. Somewhere along the way Google has flagged some part of the URL that takes you to this site and Google is issuing the alert. The answer to all of this, obviously, is stop using Google to get to the site. How hard is it to type into the address bar of your browser: http://jwsoundgroup.net ? Then just bookmark it and be done with it.
VASI
Yeap Jeff. Always have the JW forum on my bookmark bar.

Jeff Wexler
url4short is being generated I believe by some plug-in or extension in your browser.

Twade
I find the search function to not be very good on the site. I use google chrome as my browser. It allows me to essentially "google" the site. In the address or search bar I'll enter, "site:jwsoundgroup.net topic i want to search" So, if it is indeed a browser issue - then maybe there's an option to install the google search function on the site? I installed adblock as a google chrome extension (PWYC honour system) and it seems to have cleared the issue. A problem without a solution is just a complaint. I had a plug-in that provided Google Search directly in the Search bar on the site and I did not like the way it returns results displayed in a modal pop-up box with limited number of results. So, I disabled the Google plug-in and we're back to the default (IPB based) search function. It works quite well, some of the time, and you can do a little fine tuning with the Advanced Search routine. Using Google Search "site:jwsoundgroup.net" or "your topic-jwsoundgroup" in any browser (does not need to be Chrome) will yield good results in your browser. Michiel
The link-from-search-engine-to-JWsound-advertistements-hack is still alive. It also happens with Bing, for example and not just Google. It looks like no one can find JWsound by search engine, since you always end up with a site with all kinds of aggressive banners, even the URL is different. (Even in your own language, in my case Dutch.) Try in incognito window for guaranteed success.. This one's deep and probably lays within the website host. Have you tried contacting the host about this? Or is this a way to finance JWsound.. edit: It also happens in other browsers like Firefox and Internet Explorer. And on an other PC as well. It does not happen on my iPhone and that's probably because you're going to the mobile version of JWsound.

Jeff Wexler
Still working on this problem I thought we had it solved but I guess not. I have confirmed what you are saying that it is not browser specific or even search specific --- I have used all common browsers and also for search have used Google, Bing and Yahoo. Each of these, at certain times, have caused the re-direct problem.

You may be mistaken on this --- the short URL re-direct appears to send you to some site/address that puts you into some ad generating routine which most probably is configured to be region specific, that's how these automatic ad things work. Michiel
(Ok this reply is a little useless now because meanwhile Jeff has already confirmed that it's on the server) I just checked it in Firefox by using the "anonymoX" plugin. It also happened with a UK and US ip. (But only on first visit.) Didn't get the extra popup though. Ad's are often based on you IP-addess. I did some reseach with various results. There also exists a PC virus that does something similar, but this occasion is very likely to be server-side since it only happens with JWsound and on all browsers and another PC as well. There are also reports where this happens on smartphones and the iPad. ( best resource I could find: link )
