more about our wireless mic spectrum

Shure has been the major spearhead of Lobbying efforts (they have a lot to be concerned with as probably the favorite RF's of Churches and performers), so this article is somewhat positive news:

also, we need to remember, the DTV transition in 13 months is going to affect all the standard (high power) TV stations, who will be shutting off their analog transmission, but the numerous little LPTV signals will still be allowed in Analog.

finally, the Government has begun to issue the $40 converter box coupons, and the boxes will be available in a few weeks!

even more heavyweight support -sort of, from unlikely, but valuable allies:

OK, so these giant wireless phone companies are on the NAB (broadcasters') side, saying they want licensed devices/users in the spectrum;  wireless mic's on TV channels have always been secondary users -thus we are "incumbent users", but we're supposed to be licensed. so the outlook is still somewhat grim, with one less than desirable option (unlicensed devices) or another (licensed devices); either way competition for our wireless mic's on the spectrum.  I'd think with licensed devices we'd have a better shot at figuring out where we could fit our gear in, but if the unlicensed technology promised works (and it will at some point) then we will face many low powered (like us) sources of interference that should figure out how to avoid us on the fly, but of course our equipment may be required to incorporate the same technology!
