Nice places to stay on the US West Coast...

My brother-in-law is getting married next May, and is planning to do a bit of a roadtrip around the west coast for his honeymoon; San Francsco, Santa Barbara, San Diego and Santa Monica. 

He's trying to find places to stay but it's tough to be objective on the internet; any suggestions of nice hotels or places to visit and things to see would be really appreciated, any recommendations would be a great help.

A couple years ago, in San Francisco, we stayed at a B&B, The Parsonage, 198 Haight St. It is a great place to stay and the breakfasts are gourmet quality.

Check out Airbnb.com. There are a lot of excellent and very affordable places listed.

i usually use TRIPADVISOR.COM they have pretty good reviews and user photos of how the hotel actually looks.

Thanks for replies - i'm hoping for a bit of insider knowledge from folks who know of somewhere really nice. 

 

I'm sure they can the tripadvisor thing themselves, but if anyone has had a particularly good stay around those areas it would be great to pass on to them to help them make their honeymoon special.

http://www.sanysidroranch.com/ is a special place in the Santa Barbara area. Not sure if it is too pricey or not but it is one of a kind.

- Madonna Inn is a favorite place for Honeymooners. (http://www.madonnainn.com)  San Luis Obispo rocks in general.

 

- The Inn at Morro Bay, in Morro Bay.  As well as the state park, if they camp.  If they RV, there is Morro Bay RV park.

 

- Have them swing by Carmel for sure.. I haven't stayed there though.

 

- There's also a few Inns in Santa Barbra, which is awesome to just grab a bike, and ride on the beach all day.

When they're in Santa Barbara, and if they're anthropologically inclined, have them check out the Chumash Pictograph Caves:

Then sacrifice either Santa Monica or San Diego, and hit somewhere beautiful like The Joshua Tree National Forrest.

That's fantastic - thanks so much guys, i really appreciate it. Great pictures Steven, no wonder that poor little thing is asleep - that's a lot to see. The caves look amazing.
