BudRaymond
I actually bought one of the Toshiba HD-D3 players from Costco. It also plays standard def. DVD's and upconverts them to very near HD quality. The fact it plays HD-DVD's is an added benefit. Bud Raymond.
miker71
DVD's and upconverts them to very near HD quality. I never knew enough about HD-DVD to understand how it would take a (PAL) 720x576 field and upconvert it to any HD resolution. I guess those algorithms are commodity now, I didn't realise they'd made it into consumer devices. I always assumed "near HD quality" was marketing speak for "576 interpolated isn't that far off 720P, y'know?".
BudRaymond
I don't know how the PAL conversion holds up. The player I have is for NTSC. Bud Raymond.
