My Son

I'm more excited about the fact that he just learned a valuable life lesson.  There were plenty of days he didn't want to train, but this produced a bit of celebrity status to him at school.  It shows him results, and he's liking those results.. now we just have to work on bringing some grades up. :)

+1.  Training doesn't necessarily=rewards and awards, but NOT training absolutely makes for NO rewards or awards.

A word about the grades.  Is he interested in college?  One of my biggest mistakes with my son (now successful at 28) was that I didn't take him to see colleges, let him experience what life is like there, while he was still in middle and early high school.  Once he figured out that it was not going to be just an extension of high school (and instead be pretty big fun) he got with the program academically so he could get into a UC etc..  Same thing--understanding the rewards makes them seem more attractive.
