AndyHewitson
Hey, I've done a quick search to no avail. There's been a recent thread on chairs for the studio, I'm wondering if any of you location guys have some good recommendations for comfy/practical/mobile chairs to be used on set I've just got a new cart and I'm keen to get something comfy to sit on to go with it. Michael Miramontes
Nice Director's Chair or something similar depending on your budget.
roundbadge
Big fan of these: http://www.picnicworld.net/picnic-bags-118728.html
atheisticmystic
Nice Director's Chair or something similar depending on your budget. Those are quite nice to sit in, very comfy. All I was doing was sitting though, not working.
Philip Perkins
Some stages around here have these. I found that they were awkward to pull up to a cart, and that the arms got in my way a lot. Also, after they get well-used, director's chairs get pretty "creaky".... phiulp
Doug Osborn
Not the most portable but definitely the most comfortable for my back: a Ford Smart Ass drum throne. I may add a back rest at some point down the road. This thing rocks.
Whit Norris
Cool chairs and seats. These days I am more concerned about the height of the seat to work with the height of my cart and mixer. Try to make the ergonomics of it work. Cheers, Whit
RPSharman
I use the basic folding deck chair (Coleman I think), with side table. It's light and folds pretty flat, and it's got little carry handles that hook right on my cart for moving. My wife offered to buy one of the fancy ones for my birthday a few years back, but I have filled in for guys with those chairs, and I didn't find them comfortable. They are also a pain to fold and move around. Simple is better (and cheaper).
Martin Kittappa
On a day shoots I tend not to bring a chair- I would rather stand and move around as it just feels more healthy on my body. Night shoots are different story- Chair, heater, tent, blankets.... anything to make my night more comfortable.
mbois
I own a Roc n Soc throne drummer chair. It's awesome!
Richard Lightstone, CAS
I never liked Director's Chairs or the big heavy "Mixer Chair" that became popular in the 80's. To save my back I first went with a drummer's stool and then a good 'drafting" office chair, that I still use today. Going on 30 years +. dominiquegreffard
This guy has been my best friend for a bit now. It s basically the equivalent of a folding apple box. Folds to flat in a sec. For solo eng work this is heaven sent for those long days
Hollandaudio
I used Maxxdaddy bar stool for about four years.
Joe Finlan
I use a Browning Camping Directors Chair XT. Light, sturdy and cheap.
Hollandaudio
Just saw that at amazon. I thought was slightly low for me but now I'm thinking it would have been just right
chrisnewton
hey Joe, where did you buy that chair. Chris in Ottawa
syncsound
Nice Director's Chair or something similar depending on your budget. I second this . I got the model without the side apron for @ $45 in PDX. The side table is perfect for sound reports.
Dejan Ceko
Bumping this old thread because I am struggling to find the one that would really like... Any ideas? Thanks.
Ben B
I have the stanley from https://www.regiestuhl.de/. The website is only in german as far as i know and the chairs are pricey but they last a lifetime! Mine went into snow, mud, sand, concrete, from -20C to 35C and the feet still don't scratch the wodden floor! All the parts are also replaceable. I can only recommend them! Bonus point: you can write what you want on the back or even print your logo.
